Following widespread critical acclaim and an "A" CinemaScore, Thor: Ragnarok has gotten off to a spectacular start at the domestic box office, bringing in approximately $46.8 million (including $14.5 million from Thursday night previews) on its first full day of release.

The Taika Waititi-directed feature is now heading toward a massive $118 million opening weekend, which would place it right between James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ($146.5M) and Jon Watts' Spider-Man: Homecoming ($117M) for Marvel Studios' second-highest opening weekend of the year.

Internationally, the latest Marvel blockbuster has taken in around $164.5 million, which takes its worldwide sum to well past $211.3 million. That figure is expected to go up exponentially over the next few days as the film begins to roll out in both China and Japan day-and-date with its North American release.

In regards to the past two films, Ragnarok will open bigger than both of its predecessors, Thor and Thor: The Dark World, which opened to $65.7M and $85.7M in 2011 and 2013, respectively. The Chris Hemsworth vehicle may actually outgross the entirety of the original Thor ($449.3M) by the end of next week and should easily surpass The Dark World ($644.5M) in the coming weeks.

So, what did you think of the God of Thunder's third solo outing? Sound off with your thoughts below!

Well, it will make money, but where will it set?

I'm guessing 750 million;

Hopefully it hits a billion when all said is done. I personally didn’t think it was as epic as I hoped but it was good. Making money is good for all comic book movies I’d rate it at around a 7/10. That being said hopefully justice League is a billion dollar hit also that’s critically acclaimed.
