Among the many (and there were many) amazing moments in the second trailer for
Thor: Ragnarok, you may have missed a few more quick glimpses of
Skurge the Executioner, played by Karl Urban. While the character is best known as a servant of Amora the Enchantress in the comics, this film will see him ally with
Hela, the Goddess of Death (Cate Blanchett).
In an interview with IGN at San Diego Comic-Con, Urban briefly talked about Skurge's role and how he finds himself on Hela's side of the conflict.
"When we find Skurge, he's operating the Bifrost because Heimdall is missing in action, and then pretty soon after that Hela shows up," Urban said.
"Skurge sees the writing on the wall and has to make a decision whether to die or join her, so his instincts of self-preservation take over."
Whether Skurge remained Hela's ally or chooses to side with Thor again, Urban wouldn't say.
"You're going to have to wait and go see the movie, but that is the dilemma." Urban also confirmed that Skurge would wield his classic axe in the film.
"Oh yeah, the battle axe is in there."
Urban also described
Ragnarok as
"quite zany and eclectic and fun, and I think it's going to come out of left field in a lot of different ways." Are you looking forward to seeing Urban as Skurge? Let us know in the usual place.
