Roughly three weeks from it's much-anticipated release, it's no surprise details regarding the traditional post-credits scene now in Marvel Studios' latest big-screen adaption THOR, has emerged online. With another Spoiler Warning, highlight the description below, only if you posses the power!

"Nick Fury arrives to New Mexico and talks to Professor Selvig (Stellan Skarsgard) about the Tesseract (cosmic cube). And it's revealed that he's (Selvig) actually Loki." In case of any confusion, they're not implying that Selvig is Loki DURING the film, but only in this scene.

Anyhow, said to essentially lead to The Avengers, or a Thor sequel, overall reviews of the film are so far "A-ok". So look for THOR in theaters May 6, and be sure to stay after the credits to witness visually!

I wonder if they will keep this the same for the UK/American release. Maybe make this the final pre-credits scene and add a new one for the post-credits.

@lokisilvertongue The only reason I'm posting it is because I already knew what the after-credits scene was....and I was just waiting for someone else to write it online) And IMDB was first.

[frick], wish i hadn't read that now. This is the only spoiler i would let myself read, because i thought it wouldn't effect my viewing of the movie, for example Nick Fury at the end of 'Iron Man' or the hammer at the end of 'Iron Man 2'. No big deal....i thought. Now i won't be able to watch 'Thor' without that spoiler in the back of my mind.

DCMarvelFreshman - 4/17/2011, 11:11 AM
@TopCat89 It has no effect on the film whatsoever, they're not saying he has control over Selvig DURING the movie, if that's what your're amusing.

So long as he wasn't him all along I'll be fine with it. It makes his existence throughout the (leaked script) story wasted. I think I just made myself sound stupid...of course he's not him all along given his history!

Selvig makes some great quips about links to other Marvel heroes so he's a great addition to the movieverse! I'm guessing he's better connected to SHIELD than he seems!

But to me this is the perfect way for them to go. To know he'll be back is GREAT news!!!

SO JENSEN ACKLES IS ACTUALLY CAPTAIN AMERICA?!?!? WOW.

@Earz. I think Coulson is a brilliant character to tie the individual hero universes together. It wouldn't be right having main characters doing this. The Pym's haven't even had an introduction to even be cast and that is down to Edgar Wright's team to make that decision anyway. Although we are aware that Thor and Cap are making the stepping stones towards The Avengers but the general audience need these pieces of the puzzle. Throwing in two scientists and the words 'Project Ultron' would be misplaced at the present. IMO

I was expecting some kind of fanboy reveal (like Nick Fury at the end of Iron Man), not this. Like maybe Skrulls or Thanos would be implied or even seen or Wasp or Black Panther or whoever the mystery Avenger is would be revealed. THAT would have been a major spoiler.
This is not a major spoiler. This is an Empire-spoiler, my fellow geeks-in-arms, an EMPIRE-SPOILER! I believe a distinction should be made. I kind of wish I hadn't read it now.
But I kind of expected exactly this kind of twist to be in the movie. Almost exactly, except I thought that Ms. Dennings would be involved, to be more current. More JMS.
This does kind of explain why a certain somebody knows a little too little about a certain movie, though, if you know what I mean.

ultron is only worth promoting if he's the bad guy in
avengers. so far the rumors say he's not in the
avengers.

Wait.... so he's NOT Dr. Selvig during the entire movie? Damn... that would have been a truly epic twist.

the real selvig is probably dead in a ditch somewhere.
OR maybe he's just being possesed like Loki does with
the hulk.

Would it kill them to maybe put these scenes, say, after the main cast list, but before the scrolling credits? Don't they realize only we fanboys are going to sit through six to eight minutes of tiny names rolling by? We're already excited for the next flick. It's the people who left and are in their cars by now who these scenes are really aimed at.
CraptainAmerica
CraptainAmerica - 4/17/2011, 1:11 PM
I'm sure, having browsed the script, he isn't him all along. But then it leaves the question as to what has happened to him? The post credit scenes link on to whatever is next so if Captain America has modern day bookends then I'm assuming The Avengers one will be on the end of Cap...which is the right way to go
