TRANSFORMERS 6 Adds PROJECT POWER Star Dominique Fishback In Key Role

The next instalment of the Transformers franchise has made another major casting addition with Project Power and Judas and the Black Messiah star Dominique Fishback set to play a pivotal role in the movie.

We recently learned that a new Transformers movie is on the way from writer Marco Ramirez (The Defenders) and director Angel Manuel Soto (Charm City Kings). That's not the only new Autobots adventure we're getting, though, because Creed II director Steven Caple Jr. and John Wick: Chapter 2 writer Joby Harold have their own robots in disguise project in the works.

That's the one we're talking about today, as the movie has now added another lead star in the form of Judas and the Black Messiah and Project Power star Dominique Fishback.

Deadline broke the news about the casting, and the actress now joins Hamilton and In The Heights star Anthony Ramos. While he was the frontrunner for the lead male role from the start, it's said that Paramount Pictures took their time meeting with a number of actresses before Fishback won over the studio thanks to an impressive screen test in which she displayed heaps of chemistry with Ramos (they've been friends for years).

There are no specific character details yet, but the trade notes that Darnell Metayer and Josh Peters are currently rewriting Harold's screenplay.

In moving on from Michael Bay's vision for Transformers, it seems Paramount Pictures is looking to take the franchise in a fresh direction. That hopefully means exploring different locations and time periods, as Bumblebee definitely benefitted from taking that Autobot to an unfamiliar setting.

We'll hopefully have more to share on this one soon, but it's definitely refreshing to see Paramount turn to some diverse voices in order to tell more of these Transformers stories.

@Darkknight2149 - its going to be a continuation of the Bumblebee movie most likely. And to answer your question, yes, as long as people (china especially) shows up for these movies they will make them. Just like any other movie really.

@Darkknight2149 - The Bay universe is done, this film is a follow up to Bumblebee which is set in a different unvierse

perhaps its only as a voice actor to play one of the transformers and this one will be 100% about them instead of a set of humans running around shouting or in slow motion with their boobs bouncing up and down?

@DemonTweeks - she is playing one of the main human characters so this one will be the same as the last 6 movies. 1 hour+ of human and 20-30 min of robot screentime

@DemonTweeks - She's playing a human character, normally they dont cast the voice actors until they are nearly done filming, or at the very least we dont find out about it till then

She's a great actress, so I'm sure she'll do well in whatever role she's getting. Can't believe she's also 30. Thought she was way younger than that.

Also, goddamn fine.

Should just reboot it.

Nobody wants Bayformers. Use Bumblebee as a jumping off point and let this director do his thing

@dracula - This is the follow up to Bumblebee, it has nothing to do with the Bayverse

So is it a Transformers 6 or a reboot? The latter makes the most sense, especially if that planned Hasbro shared universe is still a thing

@bkmeijer - I think its a sequel to Bumblebee

Transformers should be like the movie Wall-E where the majority of the movie is CG and then we see some live action people towards the end. Or just make the whole thing CG on cybertron.

@micvalpro - both ideas are not bad, especially the one with Cybertron. The scenes on Cybertron are my favourites in Bumblebee

Paramount Execs: right we made bumblebee what did the audiences like about it

Paramount slave: Well the loved the G1 looking transformers and the designs and want more films with them and no humans, like a Cybertron space film! That’d be amazing!

Paramount Execs: GREAT LETS GET THIS ACTRESS FOR THE FILM AND MAKE A 6th instalment!

Paramount Slave: Oh shit here we go again.

@movienerd84 - This is not the 6th film in the bay universe, its just the code name, heck technically speaking Hasbro has used the codename TF6 for Bumblebee and they are using TF7 for this one. but its does not relate to the other films, they are jsut callnig this Transformers 7 cause reboot or not, its the 7th TF film they've done

With all of these recent projects announced from the one we're currently getting with Caple to the Angel Manuel Soto take to Josh Cooley's animated Cybertron prequel, all of these sound way better than getting Bay back to direct a new sequel (and I don't despise him, but he definitely needed to get out of there to do his own things like his upcoming Ambulance remake).

Out of these, I'm most curious about the Cybertron prequel (though we haven't heard much news about it since last April). Josh Cooley is a good choice to direct and it could be interesting seeing an X-Men: First Class-like take on the Transformers universe following the friendship turned rivalry between Optimus Prime (Orion Pax) versus Megatron (Megatronus).

This sounds interesting though. I like the cast and I really REALLY enjoyed Creed II. The only thing I'm skeptical about is the writer attached (the one behind Awake and King Arthur: Legend of the Sword).
