PREACHER Adds Jamie Anne Allman & Derek Wilson In Roles Created For The Series

You'd think with the abundance of characters already featured in Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's comic series there'd be no need to create any more, but that's just what AMC has begun to do. The newest additions are The Killing actress Jamie Anne Allman and Rectify’s Derek Wilson.

Deadline report that Jamie Anne Allman (The Killing) and Derek Wilson (Rectify) have joined the cast of AMC's small screen take on Preacher as Betsy and Donny Schenck -- two original creations just for the show. Betsy is described as “a meek wife who appears to suffer beatings by the hand of her husband, Donny,” while Donny is a “Civil War re-enactor and abusive thug who gets into altercations with Jesse Custer but nevertheless shows up to church on Sundays.”

We've heard that this adaptation is going to differ significantly from the comic in that Jesse Custer will be spending a lot more time as a Preacher in Anville before setting out on his mission, and this would seem to confirm it as Wilson and Allman are down as series regulars -- and it's highly unlikely they'll be hitting the road with Jesse and his motley crew!

They join Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer, Ruth Negga as Tulip, Joe Gilgun as Cassidy, Lucy Griffiths as Emily, Ian Colletti as Arseface, W. Earl Broen as Hugo Root, and Elizabeth Perkins as Vyla Quinncannon.

Why are they introducing all these characters as members of Jesse's congregation when they should all be getting killed in the first episode.

And here we go with the side characters nobody will care for, but will have meandering subplots to serve as filler.

AMC wants to extend this the most possible, so here there are you're Daryl Dixon equivalents, ladies and gentlemen!

This is not sounding great. Preacher was the first adult comic book I read, and what got me back into comics. It is the reason I am a user on this site and it is the reason I love CBM's. It's been a long time since, but if I remember correctly Custer was a preacher for most of the first three pages after his first appearance.

After that the story goes a long way beyond that so I reeeeeeally hope they don't [frick] this up.
