It may seem surprising that AMC has ordered six episodes of The Walking Dead, considering the pilot hasn't even begun filming. Most television companies will order a single pilot, and if it is good enough, then they will order a full season of episodes. AMC has done this in the past, though. They've ordered six episodes of The Walking Dead in the hopes of testing the waters, and if it is successful, then you can bet that more episodes will be on the way.

Production for the series will begin in June for a world premier in October during AMC's annual Fearfest platform. A marathon of thriller and horror movies. Joel Stillerman, AMC's senior vp of programming stated that this would be the perfect platform for premiering this series.

So, it looks like we'll be getting our zombie fix sooner than later!
