What I Liked
✔Good father/son bonding moment with Carl and Rick talking about girls and every day stuff.
✔Awesome conversation between Rick and Negan, setting up another confrontation where Rick will be forced to kill him.
✔Rick’s walking a delicate balance between gracious servant-leader and shepherd (protector of the flock)--exchange with patrol guy demonstrates this well.
✔Great demonstration of the change in relationship that occurs between parent and child when a child grows up.
✔Good cliffhanger that has the potential to expose Rick and everyone else to unimagined horrors, something difficult to do in a world already in the crapper.
✔Very good character development and forward motion of the plot
What I Didn’t Like
✘Pace of the book was a bit slow.
✘Not as much action as some issues, but enough to whet the appetite.
✘Getting pretty sick of Negan--it’s time to move on to a new villain and stop dragging this out.
Bottom Line: Walking Dead #129 is a solid issue that lives up to the high standards of storytelling that Robert Kirkman has come to be known for, and brings depth to old characters, while carefully expanding it’s universe to welcome new characters to the freak show.
Overall Score: 8.5 out of 10
