Apple TV+ and Sony Pictures have debuted the first official trailer for their big-budget fall release, Napoleon, which stars Academy Award-winner Joaquin Phoenix (Joker; Inherent Vice) as the title character.
With a tagline reading, "He Came From Nothing. He Conquered Everything.," the film will tell the story of Napoleon Bonaparte and his swift, ruthless climb to becoming emperor, viewed through the prism of his addictive and often volatile relationship with his wife and one true love, Josephine (Vanessa Kirby).
With Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven director Ridley Scott at the helm, this is easily one of the most anticipated films of the year and will likely contain some of the most remarkable battle sequences ever captured on film. We caught an extended look at one of these battles at CinemaCon earlier this year, and we'd say they are more than worth the trip to the theater to catch it on the big screen.
The cast features Joaquin Phoenix (Napoleon Bonaparte), Vanessa Kirby (Empress Joséphine), Tahar Rahim (Paul Barras), Ben Miles (Caulaincourt), Ludivine Sagnier (Theresa Cabarrus), Matthew Needham (Lucien Bonaparte), Youssef Kerkour as (Marshal Davout), Phil Cornwell (Sanson 'The Bourreau'), Édouard Philipponnat (Tsar Alexander), Ian McNeice, Paul Rhys (Talleyrand), John Hollingworth (Marshal Ney), Gavin Spokes (Moulins), and Mark Bonnar (Jean-Andoche Junot),
Napoleon is slated to hit theaters on November 22, and will later stream exclusively on Apple TV+.
