The DCEU's time is very nearly up, while 2023 will also see us bid farewell to the Arrowverse. Once The Flash ends next month, fans will say goodbye to The CW's version of the DC Universe that began back in 2012 with Arrow.
Stephen Amell walked away from the role of Oliver Queen following the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover, and has talked openly about his disappointment with the way the character's story ended. Now, with James Gunn and Peter Safran plotting out a new DCU as part of DC Studios, could some of those Arrowverse actors get another shot at playing a superhero?
For the most part, it appears a fresh start is planned, though Gunn has already enlisted many of the stars he worked with on The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, so it seems nothing is off the table (well, unless you're Henry Cavill).
Talking to CBR about his upcoming cameo in The Flash's final season, Amell confirmed he would be open to playing Green Arrow again. "I love the genre," he started before adding, "I've said this before, but there might be more fun stuff to do with Oliver Queen. So we will see."
It sounds like he's open to the idea, and we already know he has what it takes to play the hero.
Gunn has said Green Arrow is one of his favourite comic book characters, so we're sure there are finally big or small screen plans in place for the Emerald Archer as the DCE expands across both theaters and the Max streaming service.
Whether those would involve the actor who spent nearly a decade playing him on television seems doubtful, though we wouldn't be against seeing Amell get to play a more comic-accurate version of OIlie if the opportunity arises.
