ARROWVERSE: First Look At The Monitor In ELSEWORLDS Crossover Is Shockingly Comic Book Accurate

We've known for a while that The Monitor will be the lead villain in this year's Arrowverse crossover and now some set photos have arrived which finally reveal what he will look like. Played by LaMonica Garrett, he looks like he's been torn straight from the pages of the comic books and that's bound to make fans of the Crisis on Infinite Earths storyline happy.

Also known as Mar Novu, The Monitor is an extraterrestrial being of infinite power who is old as the universe itself. Whether or not the Elseworlds crossover will follow the source material by having him recruit the heroes to take the fight to the Anti-Monitor remains to be seen for now.

Regardless, something weird is going on in the event as we know that Superman will don his black suit and Stephen Amell and Grant Gustin will be swapping superhero roles as Barry Allen is the Green Arrow and Oliver Queen is the Flash. John Wesley Shipp, meanwhile, will be suiting up as the version of the Scarlet Speedster he played in the 90s. Oh, and we'll
meet Batwoman!

What do you think about this take on The Monitor? Let us know in the comments section below.

He may look accurate, but CW Multiverse (Arrowverse) is inaccurate.

I haven't watched DC tv in a couple seasons because I got overwhelmed with too many things to keep up with. But it's sad that the small screen is going to do this and the movie universe is in shambles. :(

@PeterStarker - Same thing happened to me. It was just too much.

And I also agree. DC should’ve been Marvel levels of greatness if not better.

@jprivaoca - Exactly. It truly makes me sad that a Justice League movie has come and gone like it was nothing. I rarely think about it and only watched it once. Not trying to bash the DCEU. It just is disappointing.

@PeterStarker - Arrowverse >>>>> DCEU

@PeterStarker - The Arrowverse has its ups and downs and is hit and miss at times, but it is still a ton of fun and I like it considerably more than the DCEU.

@Doomsday8888 - As long time DC fan I'd like to see some sort of quality adaptation of the judas contract and nightwings first run in bludhaven...but what do i know

Please don't introduce the Anti-Monitor. Crisis is the pinnacle of comic events for me. I really don't want to see these shows bastardize the event.

@blackandyellow - Here here. I remember (I'm old) buying it issue by issue, it was freaking awesome.

@blackandyellow - Maybe next event. I actually wouldn't mind if this even was the one that merges the universes.

@JohnMagee -

I also remember buying it issue by issue in 1985. I remember
being brought to tears when Supergirl and The Flash were killed
in back to back issues. One of the most heartbreaking moments
was when the Earth-2 Superman thought his Lois had been wiped from history and he was trying to basically commit suicide
with the Earth-1 Superman keeping him from jumping into
an endless void versus living life without his Lois.

How do they allow things like Bane's father/pre-Bane to happen when they can do great stuff like this. I don't get it.
HeavyMetal4Life
HeavyMetal4Life - 10/23/2018, 8:05 AM
@Dotanuki - different show, different restrictions. DC/WB probably don't allow Gotham to use any of the big Batman villains. They won't even allow the show to refer to Jeremiah as the Joker!!
Dotanuki
Dotanuki - 10/23/2018, 8:09 AM
@HeavyMetal4Life - I understand that. The Bane design looks CHEAP and AMATEUR. I don't think that those are the restrictions that you are referring to though. It's shoddy work and it's a shame that DC would allow any of their creations that be portrayed that way at all. I thought Red Tornado was bad.
HeavyMetal4Life
HeavyMetal4Life - 10/23/2018, 8:11 AM
@Dotanuki - yeah those are probably studio restrictions too. If I remember correctly, the studio wouldn't allow Jeremiah's hair to be the classic green.

Red Tornado (I'm referring to the one from last year's crossover) looked bad because of the CGI, which is a function of the budget for the shows.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Word is, they're allowing them Joker this season though.

@Nightwing1015 - then that's different from what I heard
