Kevin Smith Interested In Writing For ARROW
If you loved tonight's episode of The Flash, then you're going to love the idea of Kevin Smith being interested in making his way to Arrow to write for the Emerald Archer. You're also going to love what villain he wants to introduce.
Tonight's episode of The Flash was fantastic, and with the recent announcement about how writer/director Kevin Smith would be returning early on for the show's third season to direct the Scarlet Speedster in another episode, it seems like the DCTV Universe is welcoming Smith with open arms. During a recent interview with Variety, Smith spoke about how much enjoyed directing The Flash, but if he could write for any hero, it would be for the Emerald Archer.
“I prefer not writing the episode because what we were able to do with me not writing it was, at least for me, substantial and wonderful … just as a directing exercise, I was so happy with it,” explained Smith. “So I wouldn’t want to write on ‘Flash.’ I would, though, like to write on ‘Arrow.'” The director then went on to reveal just which villain he would want to see the Green Arrow take on. "I would love to jump in for a one or two episode arc just to bring that Onomatopoeia character to life. That would be so badass – I created this character in the comics and then to do a live-action version of it that fit into their universe, fit into the run of their show? That would be exciting to me. That’s the one I can get my head around writing, but ‘Flash,’ whenever they bring me back, I think I prefer somebody else doing it. I heard rumor that when I go back, I think Zack [Stentz] might be writing my script again, which would be amazing – we’d be keeping the home team together, so that’d be cool.”
Kevin Smith is known for two of the best story arcs ever written for Green Arrow, 'Quiver' and 'The Sounds of Violence', the story arc that introduced one of the best villains the archer has ever faced, Onomatopoeia. So the idea of Smith coming in to write a few episodes for Arrow might be the only thing that will get (real) Green Arrow fans to watch the show again, and it's something that definitely needs to happen.
