Season 5 of
Arrow begins tonight on the CW, and with it comes renowned actor
Chad L. Coleman as the season's new villain,
Tobias Church. Coleman, who has been known for his likeable roles on acclaimed shows such as
The Wire and
The Walking Dead,
teased during an interview on
KTLA 5 Morning News that Church will be a large departure from his previous characters.
"Everyone's used to me as 'Mr. Nice Tyreese'...well, no more Mr. Nice Tyreese."
Coleman was asked if he did any preparation or research before the show, but the actor said there wasn't very much required and he felt comfortable rather quickly, thanks in part to the cast and crew.
"Well, you want to do that as an actor, and I have so many friends who are huge fans of the show, they could walk me through it by the numbers, but at the same time, I'm the new guy, and you know, I have a certain history that comes with maybe The Walking Dead, The Wire, and things of that nature, so people were very very warm and inviting, and I felt right at home."
Coleman also debuted a clip for the season premiere, which you can check out
