Season 5 of Arrow begins tonight on the CW, and with it comes renowned actor Chad L. Coleman as the season's new villain, Tobias Church. Coleman, who has been known for his likeable roles on acclaimed shows such as The Wire and The Walking Dead, teased during an interview on KTLA 5 Morning News that Church will be a large departure from his previous characters. "Everyone's used to me as 'Mr. Nice Tyreese'...well, no more Mr. Nice Tyreese."

Coleman was asked if he did any preparation or research before the show, but the actor said there wasn't very much required and he felt comfortable rather quickly, thanks in part to the cast and crew. "Well, you want to do that as an actor, and I have so many friends who are huge fans of the show, they could walk me through it by the numbers, but at the same time, I'm the new guy, and you know, I have a certain history that comes with maybe The Walking Dead, The Wire, and things of that nature, so people were very very warm and inviting, and I felt right at home."

Coleman also debuted a clip for the season premiere, which you can check out here.

Arrow returns tonight on the CW at 8PM ET

I know about the firefighter in season one but why the f havent we got a proper version of this guy

@BillCipher999 - Because Arrow was trying to ape the realism of Nolan's Bat-films back then. And now he's dead. :(

@MattBellissimo - they could easily say, "hey, the brother of that firefighter wants payback" and suit him up.

they can get atom to fly, they can get firefly

also for the record, a few other villains who should have showed up by now

@BillCipher999 - The main problem is this: Arrow had a slight misfortune of starting during a transition period. People were still riding high off of the "realism" of Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, so Arrow picked that coattail to ride.

Then the Avengers hit and changed the landscape. That's why we were able to get the Flash, and why Arrow has been so uneven. They tried to tackle more fantastical elements in seasons 3 and 4 WHILE trying to be that same, dark, gritty, realistic show from seasons 1 and 2. It didn't work.

They need to do Grundy, Firefly, Vertigo (as an actual threat this time), bring back Tommy (and actually make Merlyn evil again), return of Bronze Tiger, so many more deserving villains...

Did they kill Blood? He was a pretty decent actor..

Also, redesign EVERY character on this show. Try and bring back Deathstroke and Deadshot again, kill Felicity. Bring back Black Canary, drop the relationship drama, drop the flashbacks...

You know what? It may be too late for this one...

@xfan320 - Deathstroke has been teased to return this season.

And yes, they killed off Blood in season 2.

@xfan320 - agree with everything,i say this arrogantly, but i could write better. They need to stop pandering to other shows too, and get a good actress for a artemis
