ARROW's Stephen Amell Believes That A Crossover With BLACK LIGHTNING Will Happen In The Future

While Black Lightning is the newest DC comic book show on the CW, there has yet to be any confirmation that the show exists in the Arrowverse.  And even though the show has referenced metahumans, Supergirl, and Vixen, it is still described as existing separate from the other CW shows. However, according to Arrow's Stephen Amell, this may not be the case for long.

Recently, Amell was asked about the prospects of a crossover between Arrow and Black Lightning. While the actor indicated he has yet to watch the show because of his busy filming schedule, he had nothing but positive things to say about the show and is happy it is doing so well. For Amell, it is not a question of if but of when the two shows will crossover:

Everyone pretends like we’re not going to eventually cross over with Black Lightning but we’re probably gonna cross over with Black Lightning because that’s just the way that the world works... I think that anything you can do to expand the universe and to build out what we’ve built on our show would be great. So, I’m glad that show’s doing well, I hope that it has a very successful run, and I would love to be a small part of it in some way shape, or form.

If Black Lightning were to crossover with an Arrowverse show, it would only be natural for it to be Arrow. As the face of the Arrowverse, it makes a lot of sense for Stephen Amell to essentially welcome Cress Williams into the broader universe. Outside of Supergirl, Oliver Queen played an important role in the pilots of The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, and brought Constantine into the verse and revived Matt Ryan's take on John. Additionally, of the other Arrowverse shows, Arrow shares more with Black Lightning in terms of tone, grittiness, and maturity of the main characters; plus, Oliver Queen and Jefferson Pierce can are both fathers.

Perhaps further adding to speculation that Black Lightning may take place in the Arrowverse, Stephen Amell posted a picture from last week at WonderCon of himself and fellow archer John Barrowman posing with Cress Williams. Amell captioned the photo with "the 'Verse is in good hands," and its more than likely that he is referring to the Arrowverse. Could this photo foreshadow a crossover between involving both actors' on-screen heroes? Check out the photo of the three actors below:

Are you interested in seeing Black Lightning crossover with Arrow and/or officially become a part of the Arrowverse? Would you be excited to see Amell's Oliver Queen and Williams' Jefferson Pierce team up on screen? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual spot below!

@HeavyMetal4Life - Also hope they can finally come up with a reason to get Martian Manhunter, Mon El and Earth 38 Guardian to get in on the crossover. Be great if we can get a real Crisis event, Earth X was great, but im talking, Crisis On Infinite Earths, Infinite Crisis, Final Crisis, Convergence level event

@elcaballerooscuro92 - That would be cool, but they are kind of doing that with Legends Of Tomorrow Season 3. People coming back to life, and bringing together items to defeat a demon. They just switched out Lantern Rings for the Totems. Blackest Night would be very difficult since, they havent done any Green Lanterns, and they probably wouldnt be able to get back all the characters who have been killed off on the shows, maybe Tommy, Eddie, Martian, Astra, Gambi (If it follows the comics im sure he will be dead by the end of the season. I guess for other people they could use stunt doudbles, and just use one former actor from each show

Black Lightning has been such a refresher from the other CW shows. I hope they stay independent for a couple of seasons.

It's very strange to me that that they didn't just set Black Lightning in the Arrowverse. The Injustice 2 game would suggest it's set in the Arrow/Flash multiverse but not in the Arrowverse itself.

@Nightwing1015 - the show was never supposed to be in the arrowverse, it was pitched to fox. So when they were writing the show it was originally gonna be on Fox

I really enjoy Black Lightning. Despite being a CW show, they manage to walk that fine line between adult-ish Netflix-like ambiance, and nice and fun family adventures. One moody teenager, one angry young woman, one judgmental wife, and yet the Pierce family doesn't really feel stereotypical. Not too many clichés or tropes, and genuine good family moments.

I particularly enjoy Lightning and Thunder's relationship. They didn't go the "I'm gonna be on my own for 10 episodes, I hate you dad" road with Thunder, Jefferson accepted her goals and mindset immediately, they trained a bit, started working together, and now they're a team. The end. No drama. Only thing that really annoys me is that artificial drama with Gabi (spl). That whole "You betrayed me, I'm sorry" trope is really annoying and unnecessary.

Apart from Black Lightning, I'm completely done with the Arrowverse. I just can't stand it anymore, any of it. I could still tolerate Arrow and The Flash, but since they once again broke up team Arrow and decided it would be awesome if every single character became judgmental and entitled AF (because Felicity wasn't enough), and since they cranked up the bad acting, shitty villains and comedy in The Flash, I just can't anymore. Way too much cheese.

So long, Arrowverse.

I don't get why they don't just confirm that a DC show is in a DC Universe. Just seems stupid to me.

I’ve given up on all the CW shows. Arrow died for me in season 5 that whole Damien Dark thing was dreadful, Season 4 of Flash has been atrocious it’s so campy now and Ralph and Iris are the worst characters I’ve seen on anything in a while, Legends I lasted like 3 episodes in before I realized I didn’t care about a single character, and Superhirl is just terrible on every level. It’s a shame I loved this universe to start but I just can’t do it anymore. It’s a clust[frick]
