While Black Lightning is the newest DC comic book show on the CW, there has yet to be any confirmation that the show exists in the Arrowverse. And even though the show has referenced metahumans, Supergirl, and Vixen, it is still described as existing separate from the other CW shows. However, according to Arrow's Stephen Amell, this may not be the case for long.
Recently, Amell was asked about the prospects of a crossover between Arrow and Black Lightning. While the actor indicated he has yet to watch the show because of his busy filming schedule, he had nothing but positive things to say about the show and is happy it is doing so well. For Amell, it is not a question of if but of when the two shows will crossover:
Everyone pretends like we’re not going to eventually cross over with Black Lightning but we’re probably gonna cross over with Black Lightning because that’s just the way that the world works... I think that anything you can do to expand the universe and to build out what we’ve built on our show would be great. So, I’m glad that show’s doing well, I hope that it has a very successful run, and I would love to be a small part of it in some way shape, or form.
If Black Lightning were to crossover with an Arrowverse show, it would only be natural for it to be Arrow. As the face of the Arrowverse, it makes a lot of sense for Stephen Amell to essentially welcome Cress Williams into the broader universe. Outside of Supergirl, Oliver Queen played an important role in the pilots of The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, and brought Constantine into the verse and revived Matt Ryan's take on John. Additionally, of the other Arrowverse shows, Arrow shares more with Black Lightning in terms of tone, grittiness, and maturity of the main characters; plus, Oliver Queen and Jefferson Pierce can are both fathers.
Perhaps further adding to speculation that Black Lightning may take place in the Arrowverse, Stephen Amell posted a picture from last week at WonderCon of himself and fellow archer John Barrowman posing with Cress Williams. Amell captioned the photo with "the 'Verse is in good hands," and its more than likely that he is referring to the Arrowverse. Could this photo foreshadow a crossover between involving both actors' on-screen heroes? Check out the photo of the three actors below:
