New VIXEN Concept Art Released

Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim gives a brand new look at Maisie Richardson-Sellers' Amaya Jiwe, a character Legends of Tomorrow will introduce as Mari McCabe's grandmother and previous wielder of the Tantu Totem. She's also a member of the 1940's JSA.

Due to Megalyn Echikunwoke previous committments to an upcoming Showtime drama starring Jamie Foxxx, she was unavailable to reprise her role as Mari McCabe aka Vixen for season 2 of DC's Legends of Tomorrow (although she's still voicing the character for season 2 of the animated CW Seed series).  

This forced the show's executive producers to change their original plans but they developed a pretty interesting alternative centered around the fact that the Tantu Totem is a mystical African artifact (which bestows its weilder with various physical abilities from the animal kingdom) that's passed down from generation to generation.

Enter Amaya Jiwe, Mari's grandmother and the previous owner of the Vixen persona.  She'll be played Maisie Richardson -Sellers.  Check out some new concept art below that was shared by the show's executive producer, Marc Guggenheim.

@megabatfan - It literally kills my enjoyment of the first Avengers film a little. Imagine a Russo esque suit in the OG Avengers movie? Perfection! Even the First Avenger Suit would be better. I swear if it wasn't for the Russo's only god knows what Joss would've done with Caps suit in AoU.

@DrLight - nah fix men is where it's at, Disney makes kids movies loser that was the worst Spider-Man in the history of cinema, and I go to film school so I would know.

Besides deadpool is 100000 times better than cw, fox owned you punks this year!

It's a CW show. You can't expect a second rate network like HBO to have the same resources as a high quality premium channel like the CW.

Great art. Love Vixen in this universe. I hope her grandmother is great too. CW should think about getting a Vixen show to round out the last night of Friday for comic book shows or have it on Sundays since Friday is a death slot night.
