The Winter TCA's continue today, with CBS now addressing the assembled media.  Out first for the US' most-watched network is Nina Tassler, Entertainment Chair.  The recerntly announced Supergirl tv show from Greg Berlanti was of course one of the first topics addressed.  Said Tassler, "As you can tell from the strength of the female characters we have on television, it's a real passion of ours.  "[Supergirl is] a story and a coming-of-age opportunity for us."

On why CBS is venturing into superhero territory, Tassler stated, "There is a human drama there…I think we’re watching an evolution in the way superheroes are protrayed…I think for our network, what we responded to was the character’s humanity…and the show’s arc and growth."

It's "A story and a coming of age opportunity for us"?
WTF?
I mean, I know Supergirl is, in fact, a story, but to tell us it was also a "Coming of age opportunity" for them is just really, really creepy.

Looking forward to this one!

...so much for me being a "Marvel only" troll. Flash is great, Arrow okay (when they have cross-overs with Flash) and Man of Steel was PHENOMENAL.

@Ofniee: Cross-overs were written into the original contract.

@Luminus, the word "human" in the phrase "human drama" is an adjective that relates to the characteristic of people or (human) beings. In that context it is irrelevant whether the character(s) is(are) human or not.

@dnno1: I'm certain aliens would seriously disagree with you. Put the word "female" in that sentence to describe Jack Bauer in 24, for example, and see if it sounds okay to you.

@ Luminus, its not relevant because it irrespective of race. It just has to conveigh the characteristic of human life, conflict and dialogue.
