Greg Berlanti On SUPERGIRL Crossing Over With ARROW

What does Arrow and Flash executive producer Greg Berlanti think about his CBS Supergirl show crossing over with his CW superhero dramas? "...

The CW President Mark Pedowitz declined to confirm whether the CBS Supergirl would crossover with Arrow and Flash; instead, telling reporters at the Winter TCA's to ask executive producer Greg Berlanti. Well, that's exactly what IGN did. Berlanti told the gaming site, "So much has to go right for us to be able to make a great show. Again, I think of myself as like if I were watching them, I would want to see [them crossover]. But we have to get so many things right to make a good show and so much of it is luck, unfortunately."

As far as actual progress on the Supergirl show is concerned, Berlanti shared, "I hope you’re going to hear about casting soon or we’re not going to be able to make the pilot! I would say, tonally closer to Flash than Arrow. That’s probably the best way to say it."

It sounds as if Berlanti definitely wants to make the crossover happen.  And as previously reported, the ability for Supergirl, Flash and Arrow to crossover is something specifically outlined in Berlanti's contract.  For now, it appears that Berlanti simply wants to get the titular role cast and the pilot filmed before confirming any crossovers with The CW's superhero duo.

Nobody asked for a Supergirl show... but I hope it's good, I'm not a HUGE fan of Arrow, and Flash is even worse.

Well I wonder who the big bad villain will be for this show? I know Galatea was made for the Timmverse, but I wonder if she would show up in the show or not. I really can't think of many Supergirl villains. So seeing her in the show would be cool. If Supergirl does take place in the same universe as Green Arrow and Flash, I can't wait to see them all teaming up together.

It's annoying that this show isn't going to be on the CW... they may talk about crossovers, but it wouldn't have the same shared universe feel as Arrow-Flash

you could have made easier it and saved yourself alot of trouble if you wanted the crossover and sent it to the cw
@ComicsBornAndBred
The big two and their cities are said to be off limits even though on arrow/flash they keep putting pointless nods/EE to batman existing in their world and for Supergirl superman exists but can't/won't show up. it's a weird situation.

Sounds good. I just hope they cast the right actress for Supergirl.

This seems more like a CW show than Arrow or Flash.

@CBAB:

Where's superman then?"

--He's on the film side of things. This is a clear indicator to me, that they are connecting their entire Cinematic Universe, since they can't have SuperGirl, without Superman.

@Nosferatu:

"Looks like they have zero confidence. This show will probably suck and have horrid cg."

--Actually, this is typical DC talk. They are always very cautious when they announce things. Theirs is not the Marvel way, which is loud and bombastic.
DC does stuff quietly.

And does Flash's CG look horrible? Then there's no reason to think this will be, especially since it's produced by the same person.

@Ruhail:

The big two and their cities are said to be off limits even though on arrow/flash they keep putting pointless nods/EE to batman existing in their world and for Supergirl superman exists but can't/won't show up. it's a weird situation."

--It's no more weird, than Thor or any of the other Avengers not showing up on AOShit. You're not gonna see DareDevil show up on AOShit, or any of the Phase 3 movies either. If anything, Marvel has proven that all you really need is a nod, in order for something to be considered a part of the "shared universe".

To everyone calling Arrow an "angsty super hero drama" I'll have you remember who you end up with is kind of the most important aspect of your entire life. Arrow is believable because he has trouble with this thought and he struggles. GET OVER IT! Enough people watch Arrow that it doesn't really matter if you do or not so you might as well take your complaining to some one who cares.

Great news that they're trying to be more like Flash than Arrow. Arrow is almost impossible to watch. Oliver Queen should be one of the most fun characters on TV. They've turned him into a brooding, adolescent Batman wannabe. Flash, in the other hand is an absolute delight. Great fun with very good acting. Flash might be my favorite show right now and I've always been a Marvel fan. Supergirl, made with a similar tone, could be a lot of fun.

Just because Supergirl and Nightwing (via Teen Titans) are most likely joining this TV DCCU with Arrow and Flash doesn't mean that we're gonna see Batman & Superman on TV. Both shows will probably do little to acknowledge the existence of Batman or Superman honestly. Just like the Teen Titans cartoon made two vague references to Batman for the 5 seasons it was on: Robin telling the other Titans he works alone now and the time he told Slade that he already had a father and the shadow of a Bat appeared onscreen. None of this really bothers me anyway though, I just hope the show ends up being good.

@HAILHYDRA, I've no interest in defending acting abilities. I'm just sayin' the story is at a point where it would be plausible for this character to sustain enough emotional damage to change his personality. Amel could pull that off. He needs to be re-introduced to the show as a goatee wearing swashbuckling hero named Green Arrow. Let that Arsenal guy brood.
