SUPERGIRL: Kara & Alura Team-Up In The New Promo For Season 3, Episode 22: "Make It Reign"

After a somewhat unexpected twist, next week's episode will see mother and daughter team-up as they work to find a way to stop the Worldkiller threat before they bring Earth to its knees.

While Sam's (Odette Annable) dual-identity as Reign has somewhat mirrored Davis Bloome's (Sam Witwer) Doomsday arc from Smallville season eight, tonight's episode made a major deviation in how their stories ultimately end as Kara (Melissa Benoist) & Lena (Katie McGrath) were able to successfully use the black kryptonite to separate their friend from her Worldkiller alter-ego.

With Reign seemingly gone for good, Kara went back to Argo City to live with her mother (Erica Durance), which was a happy reunion. However, with only two episodes remaining, a new threat quickly made itself known as we were formally introduced to the Daughters of the Night, who will make their way to Earth next week to carry out a devious plan. To make matters worse, they left Kara, Alura, and Mon-El (Chris Wood) stranded on Argo, so there's no one to stop them (unless, of course, Superman decides to step in, but, then again, he's been MIA for a while).

Watch the new promo for episode twenty-two, titled "Make It Reign," below:

The part where J'onn told the DEA agents they would be getting rid of their guns was absolutely ridiculous even by superhero show standards. Sometimes cops have to kill the bad guys. That's an unfortunate part of real life. It's like the show was written by three-year-olds whose parents told them to shove their agenda down peoples throats. Last weeks speech about racism with James made it sound like we're living in 1950's Alabama. Benoist is charming in the role, but honestly, I'm done with this show. I can't take the stupidity anymore.

@NinnesMBC - No it's not. It's actually a myth. Check out the FBI's (factual) statistical data on police shootings.

@Typobutcorrect - Buckster is correct. It's like they never heard of the 2nd amendment, which was intended for military and law enforcement, even if you disregard the rights of civilians. Also, the reason one of those recent school shootings was so bad (I forget which one) is because the security guards were not allowed to carry guns, so they had no way to fight back effectively (good luck rushing a gunman with a baton). That subplot was pointless and ONLY written to make a political statement in a FANTASY show. Hell, you could almost feel the characters looking at the cameras when Lena said "Everything's better when people listen."

Buckster10 - 6/4/2018, 7:35 PM
@GAThrawnIGF - Well put. Honestly, metal detectors and a cop or two in every school would stop school shootings immediately. The argument could be made that "Parents don't want schools to feel like prisons." But, as a parent, I personally don't mind at all if my kids walk through a metal detector in the morning and wave to a cop during the day.

@Buckster10 -

What part do you think could be written by three-year-olds? Is it the fact the show is full
of flying aliens or that the DEO (Not DEA) has set the goal for itself that it wants to use
totally non-lethal methods?

J'onn said that was the ultimate aim of the DEO and that it would take time.
He also was aware and sensitive to the fact many of his agents that he was
full of shit and he would work with them to get them reassigned to other
units where they could keep their firearms.

Of course, the real cops have to sometimes kill the bad guys. But even real cops are
more and more being expected to use a gun as the last option and they are being
equipted with more and more less lethal weapons and more accountability is being
expected of them with the use of body cameras and in car video.

The DEO has the son of the Toyman working its R&D. It has access to advanced alien
tech from Krypton,Daxam,Mars and from the Legion in the future.

They have full time superpowered alien support.

In the context of the show, its not really that unrealistic for an organization like that
to seek to take advantage of that to design and field non lethal options for its agents.

Take Star Trek as an example. Starfleet security officers almost always tried to stun an
intruder but sometimes they had to use lethal force. I think that's what J'onn was aiming
for.

Have an option where a DEO agent should be able to handle something with non-lethal
means most of the time.

Many righties like to point out that while statistically white people are the biggest net users
of public assistance, a much higher proportion of the black population uses those services
which justifies the general perception that most users of the social safety net are black.

They also point out that while white form the majority of the nation's prison population,
that number of black inmates represent a higher percentage of the overall black population, therefore, it's not racist to suggest criminality is a larger overall problem among that demographic.

Many black folks feel the reverse regarding police shootings. Statistically, whites and even, Latinos
are a higher net percentage of police shootings. But the numbers of blacks shot represents a higher
percentage of the overall black population and suggests that police have a high statistical propensity
to use deadly force versus a black suspect.

Those FBI statistics did show that police did have higher net non-lethal uses of force
against black suspects then white ones.
Buckster10
Buckster10 - 6/5/2018, 9:17 AM
@WarnerBrother - That was a very well thought out argument and the Star Trek analogy was great, but I still disagree. First off, the way it's handled is awful. They really are force-feeding the audience their politics as opposed to presenting a well-written story and letting people decide how they feel about certain issues (we are more or less being told how we should feel). Secondly, if you are not one of the bulletproof heroes, in an organization tasked with arresting law-breaking aliens that can kill you with their pinkie no less, you should have acess to the MOST lethal weapons
Buckster10
Buckster10 - 6/5/2018, 9:19 AM
@WarnerBrother - Not "Butthurt" at all. One can state their opinion on something they don't like without being butthurt. But, when some tool calls them a "Snowflake" they can also call that person a "Buttercup," which they are.
Buckster10
Buckster10 - 6/5/2018, 9:46 AM
@WarnerBrother - Here is a great video with some really good facts:

I am a retired NYPD sergeant and I can tell you from personal experience that in my entire career I have only seen one instance of racial profiling. It was when I was a rookie and it was by a black officer who was known as a complete screw-up (he later failed a random drug test and was fired). He approached a black teen stating that he fit a description so that he could get a stop and frisk report out of him. It was done out-of-nowhere and I walked away completely disgusted and asked to never work with him again. I can tell you that in some of the areas of Brooklyn I had worked in crime was through-the-roof. It was African American victims that called us to report crimes committed by other African Americans. No one was targeted, and while there were many great people in these communities, there was a criminal element that had zero regard for human life. I arrested people that would rob and assault someone's grandmother and laugh about it. Was the problem that most of these criminals came from broken homes or that the rap culture glorified crime and drug dealing? I don't know. I do know that the problem was NOT the police.

Now, all that said, the Jimmy speech from last week was Ludacris. In the real world, if he outed himself as Guardian 99.9% of peoples first thought would be "He's younger and better looking than I thought he'd be." Or hey, isn't that guy Superman's friend? Not "Wow, he's black." Come to think of it, in a city with Supergirl he'd probably just be like one of those neighborhood superheroes that they did that documentary on last year. No one would care one way or the other.

Katie McGrath and Mehcad Brooks were some of the guests at Armageddon Expo in NZ this weekend and that woman is one hell of an engaging panelist. She pretty much stole the entire show. She also seems to be a genuinely inviting person as she was freely walking the floor and talking with people. It's kinda cool when you can just freely talk with a TV star without any ego or "sorry, I gotta go" type of excuses.

I never rank on this show but wow was that episode so bad. Shoving anti gun agenda down our throats. I take these shows for what they are and I never felt the need to fast forward a scene before today. What’s next? Is jitters gonna have a manager racial profile a customer and then shut down for employee training? I feel like there’s a line that shouldn’t be crossed on a tv show when it comes to real world issues.

As a liberal who mostly agreed with the stance James had...wow. That was painful to watch. Felt unnatural and corny, like a crossover PSA from the 80s. Plus the DEO completely phasing outethal weapons...okay

@GAThrawnIGF -

The 2nd Amendment was meant to secure the rights of the south to maintain the
militia system which was the main means of suppressing slave uprisings.

The original wording of the 2nd Amendment as it was being debated started with
"A well-regulated militia, being necessary for a free NATION...." They were gonna
say nation not state. Patrick Henry of Virginia brought up this point and the fear
in his state that the Federal Government would have sole right to raise military
forces by its powers under Article One with Congress being able to raise armies
and a Navy.

The south was afraid that what if the slaves (Virginia had the highest slave population)
had risen up and say the President was from Massachusetts and said slavery was evil
and i'm not sending in the US Army to restore order (and masters control of their slaves)

The south wanted to keep the means to raise its own armies at the state level
so the founders struck a deal where state forces were available but could be called
into Federal service under the President if need be.

The 2nd Amendment doesn't have anything to do with the military beyond
preserving the militia and the rights of the people of the given states to keep and bear
arms(many would say while in the militia or LE.

That last part is important because it gets to the crux of the gun control debate.

What did the founders mean when they said 'A Well regulated militia" and what did
they mean when they said "The people"?

The part about a "Well regulated militia" seems to suggest that Congress has a role
in setting rules on gun ownership. The part about "The right of the people to keep and bear
arms shall not be infringed." seems to suggest that state-level organizations such as the militia
or Law Enforcement cannot be prevented from being able to arm themselves but the state
itself had the right to determine who could own guns because the earliest gun laws were
passed by southern states to prevent blacks (slaves and freeborn) from having guns.

The raising, support of and maintaining of Armies and a Navy. The rules and regulations
they work under and the organizing, arming and discipline of the militia (in Federal service)
is covered by Article 1 and who commands it (The President) is under article 2.

Man what a boring ass episode, plus they are also pushing their political agenda on a fricking CW show, like, i get it, 'Murica has problems with guns, no shit.
But as a viewer from Italy, i'd rather just they focus on the Superhero thingy.
Especially because is not like they are doing a good job in the first place.
This is NOT how you should talk about gun-control, shit was hilarious and forced af.
TheOtherOn

They could've done it without the shitstorm propaganda of gun control problems.

These morons didn't even think for a second before writing this shit, "we will be getting rid of our guns." This decision SHOULD be part of a major story arc, it's not like getting rid of a coffee every morning.

DEA has been functioning WITH guns for decades and suddenly without ANYTHING within the Supergirl universe they decided to get rid of guns because in REAL LIFE it is a problem?

Writers of this shitty idea should be fired and also the show runner(s) who approved this shit.
