SUPERGIRL Producer Confirms "Flashpoint" Hasn't Brought The Girl Of Steel Into The Arrowverse

Rumours have pointed to Supergirl becoming part of Green Arrow and The Flash's world as a result of Flashpoint, but alas, it has now been confirmed that the character will remain in a separate universe...

This past Tuesday, we learned that the impact of Flashpoint in the Arrowverse was nowhere near as big as expected. Sure, things are going to be a little different for Barry Allen in The Flash, but beyond that, the ramifications really weren't that significant. As a result, Supergirl's world will not be merged with that of the other DC Comics shows on The CW, and she will remain on her own separate Earth.

Asked by Entertainment Weekly where things stand for the character moving forward, Supergirl executive producer Andrew Kreisberg replied: "Not for her entire world, but Kara will be traveling from her dimension to our dimension, “our” being the world that The Flash, Arrow, and Legends lives in." That does feel like something of a shame, but to be fair, it might have been tricky to write the existence of Supergirl, Superman, and cities like Metropolis and National City into the other shows.

So, with any luck, they'll find a way to keep the door between the two Earths open moving forward. On the plus side, it definitely sounds like we're getting more Martian Manhunter in season two anyway! "J’onn is stepping out and embracing more being the Manhunter," Kreisberg teased, "which is something that he spent 300 years hiding, but now he doesn’t have to hide that anymore."

@Robby - Exactly, it's a big wasted opportunity. The DC TV verse already feels fractured without Bats, Supes and WW. This was a chance to bring them together somwhat. Shame.

@Buckster10 - The DC TV verse is a breath of damn fresh air without the trinity. It allows other characters to step up and take center stage, giving us interesting stories that are STILL very D.C stories. You have a REAL problem if your fans think your BRAND begins and ends with three characters ...which sadly seems to be the case. There are a good portion of D.C fans who think the movies are good just because it features one of of those three. Likewise, the shows are bad because they don't.

Is Gotham a wonky show with a myriad of problems? Absolutely. None of those problems are ever addressed by the fans. Instead, the only complaint that is ever spoken is that there is no Batman. I hate to break it to you, the show wouldn't be any better with the presence of Batman.

Honestly, I LOVE Super Girl and was a little upset that they are introducing Clark for that boost. I think Kara is a likable and compelling character on her own. And to be quite honest, I think she holds the "Super" mantle much better than Cavil does because her struggles are real and she deals with them a regular human being would; movie Clark handles them as a guy who is convinced he is the second coming would. Give me a hero like her over Super Man anyday.

The same can be said for The Flash. The Flash is a great character and I would rather watch him than most iterations of Batman.

The fact is this: DC TV is doing what Marvel Movies are doing right. They are forced to live in a world without their "BIG NAMES" and have made quite the great universe because of it ...because they are forced to focus on smaller characters that make up a GREAT universe. Yes, this is me, a Marvel fan, saying that the D.C universe is great ...they just don't have faith to explore that universe outside of the big three most of the time. But look what happens when they do? First two seasons of Arrow were really good, Flash is a great show, and I personally thought Super Girls was fantastic. In addition, you have stuff like the 2000's Teen Titans show that was really good. Meanwhile, you have the films that are struggling because they never could quite get over the notion of the big three; and even then, they really ONLY seem to ever put their faith in the Bat franchise.

TV verse is great without the Trinity.

@Objectivelybiased - Not true with the films. Although I still enjoyed most of the DCU films thus far, they suffered from tonal and story problems and had nothing to do with using the big three. And I don't want Supes, Bats and WW to be featured in the Flarrowverse, I'd just like a cameo here and there and a cool/fun mention or two.
