Tyler Hoechlin Talks About Becoming SUPERMAN And Joining SUPERGIRL

It's only a matter of time until we get our first look at Tyler Hoechlin in his Superman suit, but for now, the actor talks about becoming the Man of Steel and being offered the role of a lifetime.

It’s weird to think that we’ll be seeing two versions of the Flash and Superman at the same time, but it’s not exactly a bad thing. Just a few weeks ago, it was announced that Tyler Hoechlin would take on the role of the Man of Steel for Supergirl’s second season. Even though Hoechlin will only be donning the iconic “S” for a few episodes, he's already feeling the responsibilities that come with being Superman, and he's grateful for it.

“It’s an incredibly humbling and flattering thing to be given that opportunity,” said Hoechlin. "I know it’s such an iconic character that means so much to a lot of people. The interesting thing to me is meeting people who are much older than me and saying, 'Oh Superman has always been my hero' and shaking my hand, it’s such a weird position to be in because you’re not just assuming that this is a character for a younger generation, it’s for anyone who’s a fan of the character. It’s really exciting; I’m really looking forward to be putting our own spin on it, seeing where this character fits into this storyline, and this version of Superman. Like I said, I take it with great respect for the character and hat it means to people so I’m excited to get to work on it and see what comes out of it.”

Hoechlin then went on to reveal what it was like for him when Greg Berlanti first offered him the role of Superman and how it all seamlessly came together. "I had been meeting with Greg Berlanti and Andrew [Kreisberg] over there at his office and we just sat –I didn’t know what the meeting was for originally and it kind of came up and they said, 'Is this something you would like to talk about?' and I was like, 'Yeah, sure, let’s talk about it.' And I think we had similar views in what makes the character interesting and fascinating, and it just kind of worked out." Are you excited to see Tyler Hoechlin as the Man of Steel in Supergirl?

It'll be funny if it's just his silhouette, his back, or something in that manner.

He tends to play the more angry character in some of his roles. I wouldn't mind seeing Superman pissed that Supergirl isn't on the Flash yet.

I thought that said "joking Supergirl"...then I thought it said "choking Supergirl"...then I realized I'm a psychopath.

Maybe I'm just salty, but these days I cringe when actors talk about taking superhero roles and acting like they're 1st place trophies, are respected by a bunch of people now, etc. It never used to be like this until the financial potential stuck out.

Wasn't this guy in the running to play Batfleck or was that just fan casting?

@THATguy01 - He was rumored to be in the running but I'm pretty sure the only candidates were Josh Brolin and Affleck

I would really like to see you Separate your Clark Kent from Superman.. Other than Christopher Reeve & Brandon Routh, every other person to play Superman/Clark has portrayed each persona as bold and confident. I'm not saying Clark needs to be a clumsy oaf as Reeve did, but he should definitely come off as "no way in hell is this guy Superman"... Kinda like how Bale did the Playboy portrayal in BB & TDK

Can you guys imagine the shitstorm that's going to come when this guy acts more like Superman than the DCEU one?
