THE FLASH: "Armageddon" 5-Part Crossover Announced For Season 8 Including The Atom, Reverse-Flash, & More

The CW revealed plans for a five-part event that would kick off season 8 of The Flash earlier this year, and we now know that the star-studded crossover will be titled "Armageddon."

The event will see a powerful alien threat arrive on Earth under mysterious circumstances, as Barry (Grant Gustin), Iris (Candice Patton) and the rest of Team Flash are pushed to their limits in a desperate battle to save the world. But with time running out, and the fate of humanity at stake, Flash and his companions will also need to enlist the help of some old friends if the forces of good are to prevail.

In the current COVID-19 era, crossovers between different shows is easier said than done, but The CW has found plenty of big names to make up for that. Some of them will even be making their return to The CWVerse after their respective shows have ended (Supergirl star Chyler Leigh) or they've been written out (Legends of Tomorrow alum Brandon Routh).

The full list of guest stars includes Javicia Leslie as Batwoman, Brandon Routh as The Atom, Cress Williams as Black Lightning, Chyler Leigh as Sentinel, Kat McNamara as Mia Queen, Osric Chau as Ryan Choi, Tom Cavanagh as Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash, and Neal McDonough as Damien Darhk.

"Simply put, these are going to be some of the most emotional Flash episodes ever," The Flash Executive Producer Eric Wallace says in a press release. "Plus, there are some truly epic moments and huge surprises that await our fans. And we’re doing them on a scale that’s bigger and bolder than our traditional Flash episodes. So yes, ‘Armageddon’ is a lot more than just another graphic novel storyline. It’s going to be a true event for Flash and Arrowverse fans, old and new. Honestly, I can’t wait for audiences to see what we’ve got planned."

The Flash returns to The CW with "Armageddon" on November 16, later this year.

After last season, I find it hard to get hyped for this

Id watch a cw type movie if it was well done, and stand-alone. But I'm too far behind on these shows to watch the crossovers at this point.

@TheMapleSyrup - Superman & lois and Stargirl are worth watching they are part of the universe but you don't need to watch the rest. Same with Legends S2 and 3 were great and the current season is the best one since season 3

@TheMapleSyrup - I don't really need it. Much in the same way we have higher standards for CBM's and sci-fi properties in general...well stuff in general I think that the Arrowverse (yeah, that's still what it is) has ran it's course. It's evolving through stuff like Doom Patrol, the Guy Gardner show and...Titans. Stargirl is doing well too, but I think the Arrowverse itself is on it's last legs. There's clearly still a following though and CW obviously knows that.

@kider2 - yea it’s all about Superman and Lois and stargirl, easily the best 2 cw Sc shows. And 2 of the best superhero shows period.

Finally finished the last three episodes of the latest Flash season....I wish I could be more hype for this event, but Wallace has given me nothing to prove it will be anything truly special. Seeing Ray Palmer, Ryan, and Jefferson will be nice. I do wish Diggle, Superman, Supergirl, and Stargirl were involved, but I understand they couldn’t

I stopped watching season 4 but my interest has been renewed by how apparently GOD AWFUL this show has become the last few years.

I've watched a number of youtubers skewer the show and say it is literally UNWATCHABLE and as cringe as your worst power rangers series.

Worth the watch and actually an in depth look at how the show became so terrible

@BlackBeltJones - watched that the other day I didn’t realize how bad it got, savitar was the last season I saw and even then I skipped out half way and came back at finale

@ShimmyShimmyYA - Yea I skipped a few episodes of the Savitar stuff because it was too cringe to sit through.

@BlackBeltJones - its been pretty unwatchable since season 3. Season 5 was an insult to the viewers, in both lack of intellect, poor writing, and time wasted. Season 5 was basically a great example of "What Not To Do in a TV Show 101."

@HeavyMetal4Life - damn. I stopped at 4 but I skipped a good chunk of 3. Savitar was ridiculous.

The whole show is very rinse and repeat.

HeavyMetal4Life - 8/25/2021, 1:58 PM
@BlackBeltJones - it is. Season 6 actually did some stuff that was different, which is why it kind of broke that pattern of progressively shittier seasons, but season 7 went straight back to the same shitty formula.

@BlackBeltJones - I keep seeing that pop up on my youtube feed but iuno if I can handle an hour of how bad the Flash is

@Himura - I thought the same thing but I started watching and he had me hooked.

The guy does a great job of really explaining why and how.

@ShimmyShimmyYA - Man, looking back at the whole show I think it is fair to say season 1 was lightning in a bottle. The fact it went from one of the best comic book shows and just damn good TV in general to bad that quick is genuinely weird. Arrow had it's ups and downs but even that show didn't get as bad as Flash got. Flash just got worse and worse and worse.

Wonder why Batwoman

Even ignoring her show’s lack of quality, she is the only current series regular showing up

Such a random batch of characters for this one

Wonder what will be the excuse for the heavy hitters not showing up (whatever it is just stop with the legends “dont do the crossover” stuff that got annoying after crisis)

@RageDriver2401 - the emotional stuff on the show went downhill after season 1.

@BlackBeltJones - personally felt season 2 was also pretty decent, and I at least enjoyed season 3 up until the Savitar reveal. But the show after that.. big yikes. In my experience most of the CW shows lose quality once they start playing into the lead romances big time.
