GAME OF THRONES: Dany's Dragons Aren't So "Cute" In Season 3

We've seen a glimpse of one of the Dragons in flight already but it was hard to gauge how much larger he'd gotten since last season. Well according to the GOT showrunners, they're now as big as "a medium sized dog", and VERY dangerous..

When we were introduced to the three baby Dragons at the end of the first season of Game Of Thrones I'm sure there must have been at least a couple of "awww"'s from some viewers. Then even at the end of season two when they learned to breath fire properly and used it to kill, they were still pretty damned cute! Well as fans of the source novels know, that really doesn't last too long. In an interview with EW, Dan Weiss and David Benioff reveal that in this upcoming season those little critters will be slightly bigger critters, and will be well on their way to becoming "weapons of mass destruction".

“This is an interesting time for the dragons,” says Benioff. “When they were born they were adorable. Last season, as you say, they were still kind of cute. But now they’re turning into proper flying dragons. One of the interesting things about the books, and hopefully the show, is that the weapons of mass destruction in this world are living breathing things. And as they get older that presents problems.” Weiss adds: “They’re still cute to Daenerys. They’re her babies. But her babies can burn down a house in a few minutes and they’re getting increasingly terrifying to everyone around her. At some point she will have to reckon with the fact her babies are all grown up.”

The duo also address the need for more CGI as not only the Dragons, but the Stark family's Direwolves become more prevalent in the story. They say the experimented with making the wolves even bigger again, but at some point they just looked too unrealistic - so don't expect the Direwolves to look much different from last season. Dragons of course, are a different story. "With dragons, you get some leeway,” says Benioff. “You can’t say, ‘Well, that doesn’t look like a real dragon.’ With a wolf, you have a million years of evolution telling you what they’re supposed to act like."

It's hard to tell the scale (geddit?) of the dragon in that picture.

I'm all for more Dany ashes dragon nipple though.
Finale of season 1 was epic. Season 2 was pretty damn good too!. I'm after the dual-season blu-ray but it's soooo expensive at the moment.

Love this show. Never read the books though. Daenerys is my favorite character and can't wait to see season 3.

Don't worry, Mr. Benioff. There are legions of internet geeks who'll tell you ad nauseum about how real dragons look.
