Kit Harington Doesn't Want To Be Typecast Now That GAME OF THRONES Is Over

With Game of Thrones finally ending, many of the cast members are moving on into roles, many in comic book adaptations. Here, Kit Harington explains why he doesn't want the show to control his future.

The eighth season of Game of Thrones is coming to an end this Sunday on HBO, but for the actors, they have been done filming it for some time now, and many of them are ready to move on. Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow, for example, is more than ready to leave not only the show, but the entire character archetype behind him.

With Maisie Williams in New Mutants, Sophie Turner in Dark Phoenix, Richard Madden in The Eternals, and now Iain Glen in Titans, there does seem to be a pattern with where the talent is heading, and Harington made it clear that he doesn't want to keep playing the hero/knight role over and over again. If you're wondering why he would want to change it up after eight years of leading a series, well it seems the heavy tone of Game of Thrones likely had something to do with it.

I don't want to repeat Jon Snow. Maybe something slightly lighter. It's a very heavy, heavy show, heavy role. So something which is a bit lighter, a bit funnier maybe. Other than that, I don't really know.

Comedy isn't something that Harington is a complete stranger to. Just last month he hosted SNL and seemed to be having the time of his life, even bringing on fellow (and former) cast members from Game of Thrones to join in on the fun. It seems like if Harington has his pick, he'll be stretching his comedy chops next, as he even made fun of the movies he has starred in during his opening monologue.

Regarding his love for the series he is leaving behind and whether or not he got to have a keepsake from a show that changed his life forever, it seems he only kept one item.

I got my gloves. I kept my gloves.

Not that the gloves are bad, but he should have kept Ghost.

What roles would you like to see Kit Harington portray? Got a comic book character in mind, or do you think he should do more comedic stuff, like SNL? Give us a shout in the comments section below!

In Season 7, Daenerys Targaryen has finally set sail for Westeros with her armies, dragons and new Hand of the Queen, Tyrion Lannister. Jon Snow has been named King in the North after defeating Ramsay Bolton in the Battle of the Bastards and returning Winterfell to House Stark. In King's Landing, Cersei Lannister has seized the Iron Throne by incinerating the High Sparrow, his followers and her rivals in the Sept of Baelor. But as old alliances fracture and new ones emerge, an army of dead men marches on the Wall, threatening to end the game of thrones forever.

pro-tip, never be in anything with dragons again, between GOT and How to Train Your Dragon, hes done enough

also, its something depressing that GOT had so many great actors, but a lot of them will either star in a lot of crap or little known stuff or just disappear altogether, it takes a lot of work to stay relevant after a huge show like GOT takes up a lot of your acting life, look at poor old Emilia Clarke

as for comic book roles, he would be good for Nightwing, Hal Jordan, Hawkman, or Booster Gold

or over on the Marvel side of things, one of the Eternals or its been mentioned before, Wolverine (well after they have given the original X-Men a chance to have a trilogy to evolve first, then bring in the Giant Size X-Men team, Kit would have a chance to evolve his acting talent first over different roles, then take on Wolverine
