WESTWORLD Star Jimmi Simpson Says "Mindblowing" Season 2 Will Give Us Answers

Fans were blown away by season 1 of HBO's mind-bending series, and according to one of the show's stars, those same fans can expect even bigger twists when the show returns. Season 1 SPOILERS ahead...

Westworld delivered some jaw-dropping moments in its first season, and from the sounds of it, things will only get crazier when the show comes back later this year.

Jimmi Simpson, who plays William in the show, sat down with Collider to talk about his upcoming series Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G., and also talked a bit about what we can expect from Westworld season 2.

When asked about how mind-blowing season 2 will be, Simpson pulled out a classic indie horror reference, saying:

" In the David Cronenberg film Scanners, there’s a scene where Michael Ironside is demonstrating his psychic abilities. If your mind was blown by the first season, then in Season 2, you’re definitely the guy with glasses that gets the dark side of Ironside."

Simpson said that he thinks this upcoming season will answer some of the questions people had from the first season. He also discussed his approach to last season's big twist, where it was revealed that William and the Man in Black (Ed Harris) are really the same person.

"I was playing it as if we’re just now scratching the surface. Once I was clear what was happening, it wasn’t to try to get to Ed [Harris], by the end of the season. It was to try to get to a believable seedling of what becomes Ed (Harris). In my mind’s eye, to help me as an actor and to get through what I needed to do, there was a certain romantic next few chapters, in which a very, very confused William tries to battle the anger that he’s feeling towards having his heart broken. So, that’s what I was playing."

Westworld returns April 22.

This guy has RANGE. Hilarious as Liam Mcpoyle on one hand, and awesome as William on the other. He seems like a genuinely nice guy in real life too. The Tupac/Biggie movie he’s in looks dope as hell, too.

Probably my favorite new show from the past year. Great acting, production, story telling, etc. Can't wait for S2. I have a soft spot for the original film too, worth the watch for what it was back then.
