No Hydra Or S.H.I.E.L.D. In Season One Of AGENT CARTER; Will Feature One Major Marvel Villain

No Hydra Or S.H.I.E.L.D. In Season One Of AGENT CARTER; Will Feature One Major Marvel Villain

Many of us expected that Agent Carter would focus on the formation of S.H.I.E.L.D., but it will instead take place before the events of her One-Shot! We also get some hints about Edwin Jarvis' role in the series (sounds like he'll be a lot more than just a butler), and much more!

In the following video interview with IGN TV, star Hayely Atwell and the team behind the upcoming Agent Carter series talk about the setting of the first season, confirming earlier reports that it will indeed take place before the events of the One-Shot which was included on the Iron Man 3 DVD and Blu-ray. That's a little disappointing to hear as most fans were hoping that we would see the formation of S.H.I.E.L.D., but it instead sounds like this will be building up to that point (which seems like an odd direction to take). With any luck, a second season will address that part of Peggy's life. Interestingly, the series is described as being like Fargo or True Detective in the respect that it will be like an eight hour movie. We then learn more about Edwin Jarvis' role in the series, and it sounds as if we should expect to see him heading into action alongside Peggy and Howard! Oh, and a brief Captain America 3 update reveals that it starts shooting next April...

If the writers for this show were smart they'd have Winter Soldier make an appearance in a 2 episode story-arc where Howard Stark and his wife are assassinated. That would be beyond awesome.

I hate to say this, but a lot of my hype just dropped for this show. Part of the reason I was looking so forward to this was because I thought it would be an amazing way to show to origins of SHIELD and how Hydra began to infiltrate them. I thought having Sebastian Stan come on the show near the end showing the origins of the Winter Soldier and having Arnim Zola and other major Hydra villains would be truly amazing to show, and that was why I thought people should give the show a chance. Now, I'm not really interested in what they're doing with it anymore.

Having it take place before the One-Shot when she learns about SHIELD is a wasted opportunity.

Dang really? That sucks. Would've been an awesome thing to see happen on the show.

They'll be fighting Zodiac instead. Maybe we'll even see Jacob Fury, AKA Scorpio.

But in all honesty, Winter Soldier COULD make an appearance somehow. Possibly have it set-up where he kills a high S.H.I.E.L.D official and Peggy has to investigate.

I was so excited for this but now it just sounds like this will be the same watered down strung out shit that AOS is.

Sounds interesting, so since Jarvis has a role in this, Howard Stark will definitely be in this too?

That could be really cool, I liked Dominic Cooper in First Avenger

The one shot shows Peggy Carter just getting started at an office job and getting fed up and finally taking matters into her own hands.

How does it make any sense at all for this to take place beforehand.

And if they [frick]ing waste Zemo or some other big villain on this show i'm going nuts.

@Ezio
In the one-shot she was working in a misogynistic environment and kept getting shoved into desk duty. She finally said "[frick] it" and decided to do an actual mission for a change. This show (if true) is basically turning that whole event over on it's head.

If it is before the formation of shield, that might be smart...

If future movies need to go back and reveal some other big revelation about the past, this doesn't risk blocking that with some other story...

And Zemo is a bit ridiculous, so he may be a better "TV villain"...

Soooo...calm down people...

I shall watch..

I really want Red Skull to come back in Cap 3. I was just rewatching The Avengers and noticed how Loki is being manipulated very much in the way it seems Ronan will be manipulated in Guardians. He gives them both missions that are more or less 'get an infinity stone and destroy/conquer a plant which will likely oppose Thanos's attempt to rule the Universe. So Cap 3 could have Red Skull sent by Thanos, with a mission to destroy the Avengers starting with their leader.
