AGENT CARTER Writer Jose Molina On Where Season 3 Would Have Went And The Possibility Of A Netflix Revival

Despite be cancelled a few years ago, many are still calling for the return of Agent Carter, and now one of the show's writers discusses the story for Season 3 and weighs in on a possible Netflix revival.

Between having an impactful role in the Captain America films and starring in her own short-lived series, Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter had a large presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So it’s unsurprising that many fans continue to ask for one more season of Agent Carter to resolve the Season 2 cliffhanger.

But while the possibility of a revival looks less and less likely, one of the shows producers and writers discussed what the story for Season 3 would have looked like.

“If memory serves, the initial thrust was going to come from the investigation into the assassination attempt on Jack Thompson,” Jose Molina told Den of Geek before explaining that the show would have introduced someone close to Peggy. “We were hoping (assuming we could afford it) that the story would then lead us to London, where we would learn that Peggy’s late brother Michael was not only alive and kicking, but involved in some very nefarious, super-villainous shenanigans.”

In all, it sounds in line with past comments from Hayley Atwell, which teased some familial drama. Still, the initial plans for Season 3 weren’t the only topic discussed, as Molina also explained why he thinks Agent Carter’s tone and style wouldn’t be a fit for Netflix.

“It would be lovely to think that Netflix (home to so many awesome Marvel shows) would pick it up, but their shows all share a common universe and timeline that Carter doesn’t share. Creatively, these shows tend to be very dark, and Agent Carter just doesn’t have dark and brooding in its DNA.”

That’s certainly an interesting point, but with Disney focusing on developing their own streaming service, it’s likely a Netflix revival isn't even in the cards.

Either way, what do you folks make of these comments? Would you have liked a third season that explores Peggy’s relationship to her Brother? Make sure to share your thoughts in the comments below.

I say bring her to Hulu but seriously, jump to her helping start SHIELD.

@Tymminator - This. They knew they were most likely not going to get a season 3 and decided to do... a Not Whitney Frost story. Don't get me wrong I liked the season but to not do anything like the start of SHIELD or introducing the Invaders or something and on top of that have the gull to end it on a cliffhanger screamed clueless to me.

Sounds like a spin on the Winter Soldier.

Perhaps the Disney streaming service will revive the show.

Netflix, Disney, I don't care. Third season has all my votes. Where can we sign? Me and all the fake accounts I'd make.

"but their shows all share a common universe and timeline that Carter doesn’t share."

I don't care what anyone says; all the shows are in the MCU.

I kinda wish she was in the modern day MCU timeline wise. It would have been awesome to see where that would have gone.

Dottie Underwood is also a good character, that surely we will not see again.

She could have partnered with Winter Soldier.

@Repian - if memory serves me right, she is mentioned in Civil War as someone that Steve and Bucky knew. But yeah, she was really good.

Cool. Michael being alive would have helped explain how Sharon Carter (Michael’s granddaughter?) came to be.

Don't like the "deceased relative who is actually alive and evil" twist

That you think anything is worse than the vileness that was Iron Fist Season One lowers my opinion of you a great deal. Agent Carter S1 was outstanding imo. Perhaps you just don't like girls. Bye.

Where the series was headed? Answer should be back to New York. Going to Hollywood was a big mistake.

The series could have been a platform to add depth and cannon to the MCU, between Steve Rogers becoming a capcicle, and Iron Man 1. Could have seen a good Agent Woo, Agents of Atlas, Fury, etc. Lost opportunities.
