AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 5 Poster Confirms That Coulson And Co. Will Be Heading Into Outer Space

The season 4 finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. strongly implied that our heroes had somehow been transported into space, and the first poster for the upcoming fifth season of the show leaves little doubt...

EW has debuted the first promo poster for the upcoming fifth season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., while also confirming that the team will be heading into outer space when we catch up with them this winter.

The season 4 finale left us with a shot of Phil Coulson staring into space (literally) after seemingly being taken prisoner by a group of mysterious figures. Though unconfirmed, the prevailing theory is that these guys are actually Agents of S.W.O.R.D. (Sentient World Observation and Response Department), who are tasked with protecting Earth from intergalactic threats in the comics.

Check out the artwork below, and be sure to share your season 5 theories with us in the usual place.

One of the few network comic book shows I actually looked forward to by the end of the last season. Happy to see it back!

I can't believe im saying this but....I started binging Gotham season 3 on Netflix and...*sigh* I'm entertained. Yes it can be ridiculous and hammy but its still weirdly entertaining.

Ready for some Agents of SWORD! Whedon and his bro are still producers, right? They should be able to use Abigail Brand.

@rabid - If it is not SWORD, it have to be the Men of the Wall.

@LarryDee - I would GREATLY love that more than S.W.O.R.D. I actually quite liked Original Sin. Now that the Watchers are officially part of the MCU, they could potentially do a little from that story line. At the very least, this could explain where Fury has been, and let him pass the torch to Coulson.

They have taken some risks and most of them paid off. Dark, gritty and grounded plus humor and heart. They will totally tie in to Ragnarok out there in space and they have done enough with the Kree that they have some expertise. As long as they are telling good stories they will keep making them. The Mouse is pulling together content for their own streaming service and AOS has a long shelf life.

Can't wait!

Don't care what anyone says, Agents of SHIELD is the best Marvel series IMHO. I loved Daredevil, the second season a little less than the others, and really enjoyed Agent Carter and Jessica Jones, but every other Marvel Netflix's series felt flat and repetitive for me.
