GHOST RIDER And HELSTROM Will Kick Off A Series Of Marvel Shows Under A Banner Called "Adventure Into Fear"

We recently learned that Marvel Television is developing new original series for Disney+, and now Jeph Loeb has revealed more details on their plans for horror shows like Ghost Rider. More past the jump.

After Marvel Television’s partnership with Netflix came to an end, fans quickly learned that they had teamed up with Hulu for a number of new original series, including Hit-Monkey, Tigra & Dazzler, and M.O.D.O.K.

Now, thanks to Jeph Loeb, we have some new information on what Marvel and Hulu have planned beyond the previously announced shows, specifically what’s in store for Ghost Rider and Helstrom.

There's currently not much info on these shows, but while speaking with Deadline, Loeb revealed that the forthcoming horror series will be under a banner they refer to as "Adventure Into Fear," a name shared by a Marvel Comics title from the 1970s. Unsurprisingly, the Marvel Television chief didn’t provide a lot of details on this new banner, but he did explain that during discussions with Hulu they realized “there were three or four shows that” could fit under the “Adventure into Fear” title. While two of these are obviously Ghost Rider and Helstrom, Loeb confirmed there are still a couple of shows that have yet to be “revealed to the world.”

Finally, even though most will classify this collection of Marvel series as horror, Loeb said that isn’t the term he’d use, as horror is a bit too broad of a description.

“No, it’s terror, because when you say horror, it means so many different things,” Loeb added, before detailing how the Marvel programs will be different from more gore-y projects. “What we love is the notion of how we can present a Marvel hero who was truly feared and truly believed that they were a monster, but that, as the stories go on, they realize, oh, I’m the hero of the story, I’m not the villain of the story.”

So, what do you folks think? Are you excited to see Marvel Television expand into the horror genre? To share your thoughts, leave a comment below.

@Robby - Honestly, Nicholas Cage's batshit performance was the best thing about those movies.

@Robby - Easily one of the worst movies I've ever gone to the theater to see.

@Manmarvel - thanks. I thought so but the animated pictures above made me wonder.

@Manmarvel - Needs to be in the movies. As Inhumans and Netflix Iron Fist have proved, anything less than a movie is a disservice and not worth the time.

@SnapperCarr - wrong!!!

*looks at Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Agents of Shield*

@SnapperCarr - but they won't make another live action Man-Thing movie. Best we would get is a throwaway side character in the MCU and he deserves better than that. So I would settle for a streaming show.

@Manmarvel - I could see that.Maybe even the monsters version of the Howling Commandos.

@JoJo1982 - I looked at Luke Cage. Everything about the show was off, Mike Colter was horribly miscast and the show was poorly written. Luke Cage should not be corny or soft.

@Manmarvel - We don't know that. Who'd have ever thought we'd get an Eternals movie?

I haven't gotten around to Swamp Thing (and kind of dread it, seeing as everyone says good things but it was unceremoniously canceled), but maybe Marvel will step into that void?

Never really cared for the horrory comic stuff myself, but it definitely feels like something Feige won't have any use for. Vampires and eldrich abominations are one thing, but you start talking about demons with "el" at the end of their names, and it's probably not hitting those four quadrants quite as squarely as Feige likes. I just hope we don't lose Limbo down the TV-hole.

I hope a veteran Johnny Blaze becomes Robbie's mentor. Also, in a crossover "Adventure Into Fear", everyone has to fight against Mephisto.
