ECHO Star Vincent D'Onofrio Explains The Kingpin's Survival After The Villain Was Gunned Down In HAWKEYE

Echo star Vincent D'Onofrio has shared his thoughts on Wilson Fisk managing to survive the events of Hawkeye and reveals where things stand with Daredevil: Born Again amid those recent creative changes...

The Kingpin's return in Hawkeye remains one of the Multiverse Saga's biggest and best surprises. Many fans theorised it might happen, but we could have never guessed Wilson Fisk would square off with Kate Bishop and leave even Clint Barton in fear of New York's "big guy."

Unfortunately, the villain's story appeared to reach a rather underwhelming end after he was gunned down by Maya Lopez. We wondered whether that meant his return was a one-off, but Fisk survived and is set to take centre stage in Echo, Daredevil: Born Again, and possibly even Spider-Man 4

Talking to TV Line, actor Vincent D'Onofrio discussed the Kingpin of Crime's return and addressed the fact he's back from dead with only an eyepatch to show for the bullet he took to the head.

"If you’re a fan of Kingpin and Daredevil - the old comics - you know that Kingpin never dies," he tells the site. "We just had to figure out a clever way of [moving] on from that shot towards the face and how we bring it into Echo, and we came up with a really cool thing. He does get hurt pretty bad."

We're sure Fisk will have found a way to heal himself before running for New York City Mayor and it will be in Daredevil: Born Again where that story plays out.

In a separate conversation with Collider, D'Onofrio talked about the show's overhaul and expressed his excitement to get back to work on the project. "We’re having a really good time right now," the actor said. "We’re getting back up. We’re gonna start soon, hopefully sooner than later, and Charlie [Cox] and I feel like the right vibe is there."

"I think all the powers out there that control this whole creative world of the MCU, also believe that we’re in the right place right now," D'Onofrio added. "I have to say, it’s luck, really. I mean, my favorite series so far have been Moon Knight and Loki, and we’ve got those guys as directors, and so that’s pretty lucky. And we’ve got Dario [Scardapane], who’s an incredible writer who wrote The Punisher. We’re in a very happy place right now."

That's good to hear, particularly as it seemed Daredevil: Born Again was in serious trouble for a time.

While Echo is Maya's story, it's clear the series will bridge the gap between Fisk's appearances in Hawkeye and the Daredevil follow-up. As D'Onofrio explains, we're going to learn how he survived that bullet and, even if his near-death experience isn't mentioned in Born Again, his return in Echo should make the show essential viewing for fans.

All five episodes of that series will premiere on Disney+ tomorrow evening.

Yes, and all this is just so good that disney just couldn't lift the review embargo until the series literally premieres.

@Origame - what do you get out of being a wet blanket. If the show doesn't interest you, do you HAVE to add your opinion?

@IvanBadski - might as well be given the negativity all the time. But no my comment is laser guided to Origame because he's the biggest blight on this community

@Vigor - no, the biggest blight on the community is the company that both owns the biggest fan beloved franchises and openly insults the fans.

You know, that company you blindly defend constantly.

@Origame - I wouldn't say i "blindly" defend. Yes I am a fan of what the MCU has done for nerddome, but I do voice my distastes. What I don't do is trash talk a show/movie before it's been made. Or before reviews are posted. I prefer marvel over DC but you'll never find me talking ill of DC because I hope for some good content out of that camp too

Now you will find me talking down on foxmen or whatever Sony is doing. I feel like those movies are outdated and the modern cbm are ones made by Disney and some DC ones like dark knight trilogy. I don't know why I'm explaining myself to you. Your hatred lies in feeling like your race and gender are being replaced. It has nothing to do with perceived quality of film. You've got ulterior motives!!

@Vigor - first of all, the show has been made dude. It's premiering tomorrow.

Second, despite it being released tomorrow we can't even see reviews because the review embargo doesn't end until then. Which is literally all I stated in the original post. It's facts. Review embargo ends the day it comes out, and that's never been a good sign.

Again, blindly.

And I'll rather watch morbius and the venom movies on repeat than the "modern" superheroes marvel is pumping out like the marvels and Thor love and thunder.

But of course you gotta make it about my race and gender when I've proven time and time again women and minorities also hate race and gender bending.

@Origame - just yesterday you were talking about women ruining star wars. I don't want to hear it lol. We all know how you are. And if I mention one show thats not out yet not has a trailer, it'll prob make your skin crawl and stir up ill feelings in you.
Agatha!

You can lie to me all you want man. I know you. The moment you start lying, I stop replying. It's not worth talking to you if you can't be honest with yourself

@Vigor - 1) no, I was talking about a woman ruining star wars. Well, specifically sharmeen ruining the latest rey movie. And it's specifically because of her activism that I said that, and it had nothing to do with her gender.

Notice how I said nothing about patty Jenkins when she was picked for rogue squadron? Exactly. But good try attempting to strawman me.

2) the only one lying is you. And you stop replying because I catch you in the lie.

@Origame - so far Sony movies have sucked but you do you
Origame
Origame - 2/5/2024, 4:52 PM
@blitzburgh - literally the point I'm making is that that's how far marvel has fallen. They're making movies that suck more than Sony movies.

Rewatched some of Hawkeye this week and i've come away liking Alaqua Cox even more. I'm glad they also brought back the little girl to play the younger version. She was great!

I'm interested to the direction they take the character as a lead in showing how she's overcome her disabilities.

Finally gets Kingpin back after years of waiting. Show cripples him immediately

@Matchesz - They dress him up as a damn clown and had him get his ass licked by a kid, for those who didn't watch the Netflix show, who the hell is gonna be intimidated by this dude after that introduction? and this one doesn't get to hide behind the "variant" excuse.

Matchesz - 1/8/2024, 7:38 AM
@HashTagSwagg - With how political they’ve been leaning, to the writers and clever people at MS, Kingpin probably represents Harvey Weinstein/Donald Trump so we’ll most likely get to see him defeated and humiliated 5 more times in Echo. I’ll be surprised if he’ll ever actually hired some superpowered muscle in any of these things

@HashTagSwagg - "They dress him up as a damn clown" That outfit was fire

"Gets his ass licked by a kid" She's in her 20s and she was getting thrown around like a ragdoll with him barely even paying her any mind. She barely won at the end by using a clever trick since he was too strong for her.

The issue was that they didn't give him enough screentime, but he was still the Fisk we all know.

Interested to see the explanation they give of how he survived, people can survive stuff like that so it’s believable.

Anyway , his 2 favorite Marvel shows are Loki & Moon Knight…

Hope Echo & Born Again turn out well , have my concerns but cautiously optimistic!!.

Oh one of the writers from The Punisher is working on Born Again. That is...not good news.

But some directors from Loki, that's positive.

I still don't know why they didn't get the showrunner from s3 back for Born Again. He understood the characters perfectly.
