IRON FIST Rumors Get Chuckle From Marvel's Chief Creative Officer

Marvel's Joe Quesada dismisses internet rumors that Marvel Television is having trouble with production of the Iron Fist Netflix drama. Quesada also touches on the rumors that a new spinoff is in the works for Jon Bernthal's Punisher. "We'd love to do something."

"I'm pretty involved [with the Netflix shows]. I'm not on set everyday but I'm pretty involved. Iron Fist is being worked on, that's all I can say." When informed about the rumors that Iron First was being retooled as a TV movie, Quesada scoffed at the notion. "Where did you read these rumors," he jokingly asked. "The internet? Then they must be true!"

After discussing the nightmare-inducing aspect of David Tennant's Purple Man, Quesada briefly touched on the possibility of a spinoff for Bernthal's Punisher, who's making his debut in Daredevil season 2. "We'd love to do something with [the character] but it's way too early to tell. We don't like to discuss which metrics we use to decide [which character gets a spinoff]. What I can tell you is that anyone who is a hardcore Punisher fan is going to be blown away and incredibly satisfied by Bernthal's take on Frank Castle. It's one of those cases where it's the character from the pages, come to life."

Last month, BleedingCool.com ran a story that Marvel was considering scrapping the Iron Fist Netlfix drama and replacing it with a Punisher series. A few week later, Peeltheorange.com started another rumor that spread across the web that Iron Fist was being redeveloped as a TV movie. Judging by Quesada's reaction, neither rumor appears to be true.

Please give us a Punisher series Joe Quesadilla. You can halt Iron Fist to make a slot available if you want.

Unless they take a much more realistic approach to Iron Fist, he's really going to look odd amongst the rest of the Netflix characters. The Punisher would be a better fit. I think I would prefer a solo Iron Fist series, and not a solo Punisher one.

The Netflix show have been touted as "street level". Iron Fist has never been that.

I'm glad the rumours are dealt with, but i'm still wondering how they're going to make Iron Fist work on a TV budget. I recently read the Immortal Iron Fist and the Living Weapon and they're both material that would require a lot of CGI.

From the way he is saying things it really sounds like he is defensive. Lol. " I'm really involved in the series" = nobody tells me anything 😔

If you going to have a "martial arts" type character in The Defenders, Shang-Chi would probably work better. He's more "reality" grounded than Iron Fist, and would be a better fit. I would love to see a full blown Iron Fist movie. In a way, it would be a good compliment to Doctor Strange.

Often times the creators of shows and movies will adapt a certain run of a character but then other people will claim it's not true to the character because it wasn't exactly like their favorite run on the character.

"We don't like to discuss which metrics we use to decide [which character gets a spinoff]."

Baaahahahahaha we know you don't have any metrics beyond looking at fan reactions on the internet so stop pretending.
