Luke Cage Film Attracts Shaft Director

Sweet Christmas! The Luke Cage film just got massive street cred with the reported addition of John Singleton (Shaft, 2 Fast 2 Furious) as writer/director.

John Singleton (Shaft, 2 Fast 2 Furious) may write and direct the Luke Cage film based on the Marvel Comics character.

So says Sneak Peek which adds that Marvel Studios exec Kevin Feige says the film is aiming for a 2005 release.

Singleton reportedly expressed interest in the project back in 2001 with Ving Rhames in mind for the lead. Luke Cage tells the story of a streetwise Hero for Hire in Harlem who gained tremendous strength and bulletproof skin while unjustly institutionalized.
