LUKE CAGE Showrunner Hopes The Series Isn't Censored Or Shelved Amid Rumors It's Heading To Disney+

Luke Cage showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker has expressed concerns following the news that the Marvel Television series is leaving Netflix and likely heading to Disney+. Find his full comments after the jump...

Earlier this month, we learned that each of the Marvel Television shows on Netflix - meaning everything from Daredevil to Jessica Jones - will leave the streaming service by March 1. There's no word on where they're heading, though Disney+ or Hulu are the most likely destinations.

The reason we mention Hulu is that these shows aren't exactly "family-friendly" in a lot of ways. As a result, they might not fit in with the content that typically appears on Disney+ (internationally, Star has added everything from Logan to The Walking Dead and the Deadpool movies to the streamer, though that's not currently an option for those in the U.S.).

Another possibility is that the titles under The Defenders umbrella will undergo edits and censorship, something that's understandably left Luke Cage showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker with his fair share of concerns. "They're going to do what they do. It's theirs," he stated.

"I just hope they don't sit on it for years to allow for an easier reboot, or re-air it with a different mix, or the N-Word muted." Coker would go on to say he would love to do "commentary tracks" for the series if it does head to Disney+ and expressed an interest in sharing the "original credits" with fans.

In a subsequentt Tweet, he added: "The original credits, before we did our more conventional bumpers, was LUKE CAGE in a yellow American International Pictures/'Tarantino' font. The jogging sequence from 106 was the original opening, with Luke jogging to Bill Withers 'Harlem.'"

We'll let you know when we have news on future plans for these Marvel Television shows.
