MOON KNIGHT: Marvel Studios Debuts A Cryptic New "Character" Poster For The Disney+ Series

Okay, so they're just taking the piss now. Following a new Moon Knight poster featuring Steven Grant's goldfish, this latest promo banner for the Disney+ series spotlights a bloody cupcake!

It seems fair to say Marvel Studios has decided to take a less traditional approach to Moon Knight's poster-drops!

We'd usually see weekly banners featuring whichever characters were introduced/spotlighted during a specific episode of the streamer's Marvel/Star Wars shows, but Steven Grant's goldfish was highlighted this past Tuesday, and we now have a poster of a bloody cupcake.

The marketing is clearly leaning into the quirky/chaotic nature of the limited series here, but it would be nice to see some posters for actual characters, too! This cherry-topped treat isn't as random as it may seem, but you'll have to wait until episode 4 to find out why!

The review embargo lifted earlier this week (you can check out my verdict here), and critics seem to be impressed by the first four episodes. Not everyone was won over, but the show currently sits at a very respectable 85% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Moon Knight follows Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life. Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc’s enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt.

The limited series also stars Ethan Hawke and May Calamawy. Mohamed Diab, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead directed the episodes, with Jeremy Slater on board as writer.

Well, guess the marketing team at marvel realized they can't make a good poster to save their lives, so they just resorted to throwing whatever they can at the window.

Reminds me of a weird poster I found on Amazon which is a bologna sandwich with a bite in it.

They acted like they couldn’t tweak Bushman and make him more scary and mythical. Cop out excuses from these lame producers. Creating new characters is trash when you have a great library of character IP’s.

First episode was pretty good but it’s also the only thing the trailers showed. My faith in Marvel actually producing a quality show from beginning to end is so low it’s underground.

@Kurban - I agree. I liked this ep but 6 good eps? That’s unheard of. WV had 9 out of 10. That’s why it’s the best. But botching the last episode is laughable. Still, very good otherwise so that’s what moon Knight’s up against, near perfection

@Kurban - most reviews have said the first episode is great (written by the show creator) then it descends into mediocrity for the next 3 episodes (not written by the show creator). Apparently the end of episode 4 is quite good leaving a good cliffhanger for the final 2 episodes. And I hate that I know this.

Why don't they just give us a cool image of Moon Knight for each poster or the villains or the Egyptian Gods?

@marvel72 - you mean nine posters, one for each God then a different poster for each personality with subtle differences??? Please stop making sense and using logic.

If the mental illness angle stays at the forefront, this could be AWESOME cuz Isaac kills the role/s. But Ror already said it basically doesn't which is depressing cuz Iiked this episode way more than I expected and even tho Harrows motivations are basically run of the mill "decent" genocide MCU Thanos type shit, Hawke just straight up delivers lol. I never read Moon Knight so I'm kinda outta touch with what the diehards want out of a Moon Knight adaptation but I kinda loved it. I just worry it won't be as [frick]ed as the story needs it to be with the violence. Because the theme of the show is CHAOS. Grant's life is essentially a living hell and even just not being alone by a single +1 is like climbing Mt Everest. I mean this guy narrates his existence just to get through the next minute of his life. Nothing and everything feels real to him.. Man I'll be disappointed if we don't get this character stuff in the next few episodes as well.

@McMurdo - diehard here and I loved this first episode and how the mental illness was handled. But I’m also weary it might have the ball dropped. Hope not.

I’m a realist and I know they aren’t gonna go as [frick]ed as it could (Bushman, Marc’s depravity and craving of Violence) but I do hope the gods and how out there the mythology can get is handled well. I want that out of this show because the mythos is some of my favorite aspects of MK. How strange that pantheon can get

They're really turning things into a joke. I can't really stand the MCU anymore.

Still recovering from that first episode

There's a certain pitch Marvel's figured out how to hit when it comes to introducing characters that is basically a cheat code at this point. A lot like Black Panther in Civil War, that final moment with Steven and Marc and leading right into the slow walk into the hero shot is pitch perfect in a way you typically only find in comic books. I can tell Moon Knight is only gonna show up sparingly in the series, but if they keep his parts that great then it'll all be worth it. This really could be Marvel's best D+ show

@OmegaDaGrodd - that’s what I’m hoping. One bad ep would still make it as good as WV. Two bad eps, Loki. 3 or more, the others. 6 good eps, I’m countin on ya Stevia or whatever your face is!

I was expecting all levels of crazy, from absurd to horrifying, but I wasn't prepared for "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" by Wham as a high speed car chase track.
