Just moments after that jaw-dropping reveal about Kamala Khan's genes (you can find more on that by clicking here), Ms. Marvel delivered a must-see post-credits scene that perfectly sets the stage for 2023's The Marvels.
After a busy day of crimefighting, Kamala lies down on her bed, only for her mom to point out that it doesn't sound like she's getting on with her homework. The teenager begins to stand up, but her bangle starts to glow ominously; with that, Ms. Marvel is suddenly teleported away and goes crashing into her closet in the process.
A figure emerges, and it's Carol Danvers, a.k.a. Captain Marvel!
Rocking a very cool new costume, Carol's fingers glow purple, and the hero looks around to see that the bedroom she's standing in is clearly on Earth and plastered with posters of her. With that, she turns and runs, with the screen fading to black before we get the expected confirmation that Ms. Marvel will return in The Marvels.
So, what the heck is going on here?
That's a question we don't anticipate will be answered until the Captain Marvel sequel is released, but that Noor bangle clearly has links to outer space (we've suspected that blue arm belonged to a fallen Kree). We're guessing that Carol does something that leads to her switching places with Kamala, leaving her on Earth and the teenager in very unfamiliar surroundings.
On the plus side, at least we now know how Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel end up crossing paths, and a cameo from Brie Larson was expected before this six-part Disney+ series ended. Unfortunately, there was no mention of the show continuing, so we're hoping season 2 news is somewhere on the horizon.
The Marvels is set to be released on July 28, 2023.
