Will Polaris Be Magneto's Daughter In X-MEN: THE GIFTED?

Fox TV's Upcoming X-Men TV series The Gifted will feature a number of familiar faces, but perhaps the biggest name is Polaris. However, will the powerful mutant be the daughter of Magneto? Find out here...

The Gifted premieres on Monday with a premiere directed by Bryan Singer. Early reactions for the series have been mostly positive and while fans were disappointed to see what FOX has decided to do with the Sentinels, there are more than enough fan-favourite mutants included to cool them down.

Among them is Polaris, a character well known to readers of the comic books as the Mistress of Magnetism. She also happens to be the daughter of Magneto but is that going to be touched on here?

Well, The Gifted showrunner Matt Nix has confirmed that their relationship will be the same as the comics and teased big plans to explore both that and her father's absence as the show progresses.

"When we think of it, the baggage of mental illness – and there is some awareness she is Magneto’s daughter – I mean, her powers certainly are like Magneto’s. That’s something we will be exploring as time goes on, but more towards the end of the season, when some of these ideas and suspicions come to the fore. She has to confront, “Okay, if that’s the case, what does it mean?” The idea is there are challenges and opportunities with that. In some ways, it might divide her from her friends. In other ways, does she accept the mantle of her birthright? Is it her job to be Magneto in his absence?"

Where are Magneto and Professor X and what's happened to the X-Men? That's something The Gifted will hopefully address at some point but it is exciting to think that this version of Polaris will be related to the Master of Magnetism and that it's going to play a role in her story arc! After all the arguments here about this character being blackwashed, this one being whitewashed, this costume not being comic-accurate, and this girl not having the right hair color, imagine if they said Polaris wasn't actually Magneto's daughter lol Talk about taking some writing liberties.

"Oh, yeah, about that, no, I'm sorry to say, she's not really Magneto's daughter. She's not even a mutant, she's an inhuman. Oops, spoiler alert!"

I'm glad, of course, although i think they are giving too many f*cks.
Especially when they talk about her relationship with Havok.

I think they should follow Legion for that aspect.

The continuity alone in the Fox-men's universe is too damaged to fix at this point. Btw, what's with this website again? There seems to be more and more frequent problems with posting pictures and article pages.
