WHAT IF...? Teaser For Episode 2 Reveals New Footage And The Title: "What If...T'Challa Became A Star-Lord?"

Marvel Studios has shared a new teaser for tomorrow's episode of What If...?, revealing that the title will be, "What If...T'Challa Became a Star-Lord?" Check out this latest sneak peek after the jump...

The focus may have been on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings over the past couple of days, but you won't want to miss tomorrow's episode of What If...? on Disney+.

That will put the spotlight on Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa, and we now know that the title of this second instalment will be "What If...T'Challa Became a Star-Lord?" That obviously doesn't reveal anything we aren't already aware of, but there is some awesome never-before-seen footage in the promo below.

As well as showing Korath having a fanboy moment upon meeting this version of Star-Lord, Nebula, Yondu, and Star-Lord himself also get the chance to shine in what promises to be a very special episode.

While Boseman is expected to appear in other chapters of What If...?'s first season, this is widely being referred to as the late actor's final leading performance as T'Challa. That alone should make it an emotional experience, and Boseman actually hoped to bring some of this T'Challa into the Black Panther sequel; needless to say, it's a tragedy we won't get to see what that would have looked like.

In our review of the first three episodes, we concluded by saying, "An instant animated classic, What If...? delivers world after world of endless possibilities you need to explore, and if what we see from these first three chapters is any indication, Marvel Studios has delivered a mind-bending MCU masterpiece." If you thought that was hyperbole at the time, trust us when we say you may not feel the same way after watching this episode featuring T'Challa.

Check back here tomorrow morning for much more on the second episode of What If...?

Hope it doesn’t suck as much as episode 1 did. Holy shit, that was bad.

I hope it's not GOTG, starring T'Challa. I don't need to see all the Marvel movies over again.

@Razorface1 - If What If...? is supposed to be about infinite possibilities and the magnitude of difference that a choice makes, giving Peggy the same exact story as Steve (while throwing in a good amount of continuity errors that undermine the impact of Peggy’s choice to stay in the booth) is a huge letdown.

I’ve always thought Peggy deserved the serum more than Steve. Sucks that, now that it has happened, it’s an obnoxiously unfunny cartoon, with jarringly bad animation, and in-jokes that aren’t as funny as Marvel Studios thinks they are.

Every other moment being a shoehorned-in attempt at feminist empowerment really didn’t work. And this is coming from me, with my reputation. Agent Carter and Captain Marvel were more graceful and meaningful.

Gonna be bitter sweet since it will be Boseman's last time in the role, but this take on the character looks like it will be a fun watch.

@ModHaterSLADE - He actually has three more episodes this season besides this one, but yeah, still will be an emotional one

Does that mean Angela Bassett sexed Kurt Russell?

If it plays out like the first episode I am going to be disappointed. Seems like they are just remakes with role swaps and that isn't interesting one bit. The first episode was just Captain America retold and it was a snore fest. The animation is great, I just hope this whole series isn't just a retelling of the same stories.

So T'Challa isnt the son of Ego, he was just taken by accident.

Not the brightest bunch, the Ravagers.

Took someone from a completely different part of the planet and wrong race

Excited for this and hoping it will Ben better than episode one. Something tells me if will be due to this idea being fresher and more interesting.

Instead it'll be wasted on 'You are not a child of Ego, you'll never be a ravager'

@Scarilian - aren’t you that sad old man that cries about women being in Lego sets?

Aren't you the person who just said screentime was wasted showing sexism in the mid 1900's - yet your top comment in this article is you saying the episode is bad and crying over the episode because it had a female Captain America?

You are the last person that should remotely be trying to insult someone xD

@Scarilian - Nope. That actually isn’t what I’m doing at all. Peggy always deserved the serum more than Steve.

I’m saying the writing wasn’t graceful. Agent Carter was a delightful show that had sexism in the forefront because it had the time to flesh it out. Captain Carter is wish-fulfillment fantasy, yet all we got is First Avenger all over again. Captain Carter deserved her own story.

By the way, BOO!

Also, why the [frick] would it be wasted on “You are not a child of Ego, you’ll never be a ravager?”

The end of Guardians 1 literally has them talking about how glad they are they didn’t return Quill to Ego, because

"Captain Carter is wish-fulfillment fantasy, yet all we got is First Avenger all over again"

That's what superheroes are and First Avenger is wish-fulfillment fantasy.

"Captain Carter deserved her own story."

She's got her own story, it's diverges from the core plotline and she's the forefront of 'What If' moving forward and the leader of the Multiverse Avengers.

Everything you praised about Agent Carter is no longer canon, and I agree that sucks but it explains the mindset of how the What If episode turned out the way it did.

The reason we get a generic sexist character in the show is because that is effectively what we had in the Agent Carter (2013) one-shot. Agent Carter gets treated poorly by a generic sexist boss character and proves herself by the end of the one-shot.

Those working on What If probably watched The First Avenger and the Agent Carter one-shot for research into the character. As such it's Agent Carter (2013) + Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), that's all those involved intended it to be.

The only bright side is that by Agent Carter no longer being canon, we may eventually get a Disney+ series focusing around Agent Carter or Captain Carter if her character is popular enough.

We already have some rumors hinting about her being involved in Doctor Strange 2 and the people behind What If have remarked about her being the connective tissue of the storylines.
