I have enjoyed many of the Hannibal films, and was looking forward to this television adaptation. Is Hannibal the Cannibal the new television man?

NBC's Hannibal premiered on Thursday, and I had a chance to see it today. It has a well-selected cast, Hannibal is portrayed particularly well. The pilot had some creepy moments, and a good plotline. Will Graham and Hannibal working together was an interesting spin on a great plot. In the first episode we saw more of Will Graham than we saw of Hannibal, and it was surprisingly entertaining.

Hannibal is portrayed as an intelligent man with a underlying creepiness. We'll hopefully see the Hannibal character developed to show how Hannibal the genius became a primitive psychopath. Will Graham is shown to have a touch too much of the psychic aspect. I would have preferred to see him solve the crimes in a Sherlock Holmes deductive manner. The new Jack Crawford doesn't portray a long-time FBI agent in a very convincing manner. The professionalism we expect to see in a member if the FBI is just lacking in this portrayal. But overall, the show has a decent cast. I can't wait until Hannibal becomes the key player in the series. For now, he seems the title of main character a number of other characters.

The plot was a good beginning for this show, in spite of some characters' lack of development. The plot began by showing how the character of Will solves crimes with his seeminlgy psychic abilities as oppossed to intuitive crime solving. I enjoyed the fact that the plot was self-contained, it was a nice way to start the series off. Let's hope they continue this form of storytelling versus a several episode mystery. It would be nice to see an overarching story with the characters of Hannibal and Will Graham, but the mysteries they solve should be limited to one to two episodes, at least for this season. I thought this new series is had a better pilot episode than Bates Motel.

So all in all, I will check out the second episode. I hope they flesh out the two main characters in a more sophisticated manner. I enjoyed this pilot episode, it's one of NBC's better efforts. I'm glad Hannibal is back again, he is definately an interesting character. Out of five stars, I would give the first episode of Hannibal three. It's not as well done as The Walking Dead, but it has the potential to be enjoyable series.

What did you think of the pilot episode of Hannibal? Do you prefer Hannibal, or Bates Motel? Leave a comment below, and keep in mind, this is my first article.

Right now, I like Bates Motel better, but this is a pretty cool series.
