Earlier today, Netflix (via FearHQ) debuted the trailer for the first part of Stranger Things season 4, which is set to hit the streaming service on May 27.
Set six months after the events of season 3, we catch up with our young heroes as they attempt to live (relatively) normal lives after saying their goodbyes in the S3 finale. The main characters have been split into groups, with some venturing into the creepy Creel House, and others investigating their new surroundings in California. It also looks like we'll be returning (possibly via flashback) to the sinister lab where Eleven was experimented on back in season 1.
Most interestingly, we learn that war is brewing (will it be a full-scale battle between the human race and the forces of the Upside Down), and a now powerless Eleven appears to hold the key to victory. We also get a first glimpse of the show's new big bad, and this guy seems to be a lot more powerful - and intelligent - than the previous Upside Down monsters.
Check out the promo below, and let us know if you're looking forward to Stranger Things season 4 in the comments.
“It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins," reads the official synopsis. "Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time — and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.”
New cast additions for season 4 include A Nightmare on Elm Street legend Robert Englund, Jamie Campbell Bower (the Twilight films), Eduardo Franco (American Vandal), Joseph Quinn (Howard’s End), Sherman Augustus (Into the Badlands), Mason Dye (Bosch), Nikola Djuricko (Legends) and Tom Wlaschiha (Game of Thrones).
