Earlier today, Netflix (via FearHQ) debuted the trailer for the first part of Stranger Things season 4, which is set to hit the streaming service on May 27.

Set six months after the events of season 3, we catch up with our young heroes as they attempt to live (relatively) normal lives after saying their goodbyes in the S3 finale. The main characters have been split into groups, with some venturing into the creepy Creel House, and others investigating their new surroundings in California. It also looks like we'll be returning (possibly via flashback) to the sinister lab where Eleven was experimented on back in season 1.

Most interestingly, we learn that war is brewing (will it be a full-scale battle between the human race and the forces of the Upside Down), and a now powerless Eleven appears to hold the key to victory. We also get a first glimpse of the show's new big bad, and this guy seems to be a lot more powerful - and intelligent - than the previous Upside Down monsters.

Check out the promo below, and let us know if you're looking forward to Stranger Things season 4 in the comments.

“It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins," reads the official synopsis. "Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time — and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.”

New cast additions for season 4 include A Nightmare on Elm Street legend Robert Englund, Jamie Campbell Bower (the Twilight films), Eduardo Franco (American Vandal), Joseph Quinn (Howard’s End), Sherman Augustus (Into the Badlands), Mason Dye (Bosch), Nikola Djuricko (Legends) and Tom Wlaschiha (Game of Thrones).

I’m ready.

This cast has been incredible. When the series ends, just cast them all as x-men, even if it's just a minor mutant from the comics.
JFerguson - 4/12/2022, 12:54 PM
@JFerguson -

CaptainMexico - 4/12/2022, 1:10 PM
@JFerguson - yep, do that character some justice.
The1st - 4/12/2022, 2:34 PM
@JFerguson - That's my Logan choice, but I did that too.
UnderBelly - 4/12/2022, 3:48 PM
@JFerguson - He was a good power ranger.
JFerguson - 4/12/2022, 5:01 PM
@UnderBelly - i personally think that entire cast did well with what they were given
Arthorious - 4/12/2022, 9:55 PM
@JFerguson - agreed while the movie wasn’t that great the cast for power rangers were great. Would’ve loved to have seen a sequel so they could’ve build off of the first one
UnderBelly - 4/13/2022, 2:00 AM
@JFerguson - Yeah for sure... They were Power Rangers for like one half assed fight scene before going all megazord.

Elizabeth Banks was great aswell. I felt they deserved another shot and was hoping to see Tanner Buchanan as Tommy in part 2. I don't remember if that was fan casting or legit, Eh well.
UnderBelly - 4/12/2022, 12:50 PM
This took kinda long....

Glad it's finally coming though.. shame it will be done in a weekend. I'll try to space it out.
Rosraf - 4/12/2022, 2:35 PM
@UnderBelly - I read elsewhere that Duffers already said there will be a fifth and final season after this one. So, 2026 (probably).
UnderBelly - 4/12/2022, 3:47 PM
@Rosraf - Yeah I heard 5th is the last. which is a good. I hate when things get drawn out longer than they should last. Netflix really put up the money though, production value looks expensive.
abd00bie - 4/12/2022, 3:55 PM
@UnderBelly - Season 4 part 1 in May, part 2 in July! Two weekends :P
UnderBelly - 4/12/2022, 4:09 PM
@abd00bie - Oh I didn't know that! that's great! are they gonna be a bit longer like Ozarks in 2 parts.
HeavyMetal4Life - 4/12/2022, 12:53 PM
Well, I hope that all the extra time they've had has been put to good use.

Trailer is fine I guess. The aesthetic looks closer to that of the first two seasons rather than season 3, which is good because season 3 was the weakest season without a doubt- a pretty flawed season that kind of derailed a lot of momentum for this series in my opinion (peak Stranger Things was when season 2 came out, regardless of how people view that season). I just kind of feel like enough time has passed since s3 for this show that the hype just is not there anymore and is a thing of the past.

Also, "Set six months after the events of season 3." Lmfao, those kids have been secretly given some growth hormones.
MotherGooseUPus - 4/12/2022, 2:30 PM
@HeavyMetal4Life - surprisingly we disagree kind sir. I loved S1 and S3. S2 was a let down for me. I also think this trailer was pretty great tbh. Doesnt give too much away but grabs me just enough that i need it now.

My gf and I have been rewatching all the seasons to prepare for this. we have 3 episodes left of S3 and i can't wait
sepster - 4/12/2022, 12:53 PM
Skeletor, is that you??
KanchaCheena - 4/12/2022, 12:55 PM
The kids when they finally complete highschool in season 10
bs77 - 4/12/2022, 12:58 PM
I wonder if that was Billy inhabited by whatever evil was controlling everyone last season... As an 80s kid, I love these callbacks to 80s sci-fi/horror. The cars, clothing, hair, music etc are just amazing. Every episode makes me revisit a memory.
MotherGooseUPus - 4/12/2022, 2:45 PM
@bs77 - was kinda wondering myself if thats billy or not....
kg8817 - 4/12/2022, 3:15 PM
@bs77 - I really hope not - that would undo his character growth he had and his sacrifice from last season.

But considering they reference him in the trailer, yeah it’s probably him. Hope we’re wrong though.
KanchaCheena - 4/12/2022, 1:07 PM
It seems like the show has lost it's touch. There's no mystery, no horror. The monster is small and not that intimidating. On top of that they just reveal the monster like that. About the earlier seasons the thing I liked most is how they chose to show the monsters. They never show them fully or in bright light. They have always kept them in the shadows. Keeping the mystery and the horror intact. Letting your imagination do the work. The dialogues were also very generic. The kids looking like grown ass men doesn't help it either. Not feeling it tbh.
slickrickdesigns - 4/12/2022, 1:09 PM
Looks good. I’m guessing Billy will be the new demigorgon.
suitekid - 4/12/2022, 1:27 PM
I love this show so much and this looks like it’ll be a worthy addition! Just gotta play the waiting game a little longer!
McMurdo - 4/12/2022, 1:56 PM
This show has been hot garbage since s1 because the creators don't have an original bone in their bodies. They ape. Even s1 was unoriginal even if it was entertaining.
