THE WITCHER Season 3, Volume 2 Spoilers - How Does Henry Cavill's Time As Geralt Of Rivia End?

The final few episodes of The Witcher season 3 are now on Netflix, but how does Henry Cavill's time as Geralt of Rivia end and does Liam Hemsworth make an appearance? We're breaking down the ending...

The Witcher season 3, volume 2 is finally available to stream on Netflix, but does Henry Cavill's Geralt of Rivia go out on a high?

In many ways, it feels like business as usual for the fantasy series. There's been a lot of chatter about The Witcher delivering a storyline explanation for Geralt's new look (Liam Hemsworth takes over the role in season 4) but the finale holds no real clues for fans when it comes to what that might entail.

As we first explained on SFFGazette.com, when the season wraps up, Geralt is defeated and nearly killed in battle by Vilgefortz. He manages to recover thanks to the intervention of Eithné and the Dryads, and after meeting Milva and reuniting with Jaskier, he recovers from his physical and psychological wounds.

Ciri, meanwhile, is now with The Rats (setting up that upcoming spin-off) but both Geralt and Yennefer believe she's been captured and is in Nilfgaard. They go their separate ways in an effort to rescue her, with a full-strength Geralt setting off for Nilfgaard alongside Jaskier and Milva.

Alas, that's where this story ends. Despite rumours and speculation to the contrary, Liam Hemsworth does not appear in The Witcher season 3, volume 2.

There's really nothing here that sets the stage for Geralt to get his new face, and we're assuming that when season 4 begins, he'll just look different and there will be no explanation as to why. That's not the worst idea in the world when it comes to recasting an actor, though does contradict recent comments from producers.

Still, while there's an awful lot that happens in these final few instalments of season 3, it seems wrong to say Cavill gets to go out on a high. It's a fine ending for his stint as this character, but not one that's likely to be remembered after the credits roll.

How do you feel about The Wicther's season 3 finale? Let us know in the usual place.

I get that some people kept watching this show after season 1. Not everybody cares about quality.

But why do I still see so many articles about this show? It's so shit, is the viewership that high???

@Usernametaken - I was wondering how Netflix hasn't cancelled this yet. Most shows on Netflix these days don't make it past season 1, yet here's this flaming pile of dog shit getting a 4th season? It doesn't add up to me.

@CorndogBurglar - I googled it, people are actually watching that crap. The numbers are going down with every season, but the first season was so successful that the numbers are still good.

Yeah.

That's usually how it goes. Or it used to be before everyone got sensitive and vindictive about recasting.

My god, these last 3 episodes were completely abysmal.
The Brotherhood is attacked and people are betraying each other left, right and centre and then literally 5 minutes later it’s “Forgive me, we must fight together!” “Ok” 🤣🤦🏻‍♂️
I thought Ciri in the desert would never [frick]ing end. I literally fell asleep.
And in the finale the plot and editing were so unbelievably all over the place, Yenifer heals Geralt of all his wounds which we see when he and Jaskier talk to the black elf, then in the very next scene (and for the rest of the episode) all his facial wounds are back!!!! [frick]ing hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
