AHSOKA Features Live-Action [SPOILERS] And Reveals Whether Sabine Wren Can Wield The Force

The revelation Ahsoka Tano is training Sabine Wren has shocked many Star Wars Rebels fans but the latest episode of Ahsoka sheds new light on the Mandalorian's Jedi status.

Ahsoka, who it's easy to forget no longer considers herself a Jedi, is intent on training her old friend in the ways of the Force despite Huyang's continued protests. The droid even points out how rare it is for a Mandalorian to successfully wield that ancient power.

Even so, Sabine excels with her weapons training (well, for the most part, anyway) and is later encouraged by Ahsoka to try and use the Force. Nothing happens and it's confirmed on a number of occasions the former wielder of the Darksaber has never been able to tap into it.

Ahsoka seems convinced her fellow Rebel can master the ability, and all signs point to Sabine getting the chance to prove herself in next week's episode. This instalment ends with Baylan Skoll sending troops into Seatos' forest to hunt down her and Ahsoka after they crash land on the planet.

That comes after an aerial battle featuring Ahsoka donning a spacesuit to fend off three ships with her lightsabers in zero gravity. Morgan Elsbeth is responsible for shooting the heroes down, but it's then that the Master and Apprentice come across a group of Purrgil, the whale-like creatures capable of travelling through Hyperspace.

The last time we saw them was in Rebels when they pulled Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn to parts unknown, and they look incredible in live-action. On that note, Huyang confirms the device being built by Elsbeth is powerful enough to transport her to a neighbouring Galaxy...and the likely location of Ezra and Thrawn!

Needless to say, this is a major development and one which surely suggests the return of both characters is now imminent.

You can get a closer look at Ahsoka's take on the Purrgil (via SFFGazette.com) below.

I love Sabine. I love Hera too but Sabine gives me that Anakin Skywalker vibe where she isn't afraid to question something and give her input but also not afraid to get her hands dirty of need be.

I’m liking this concept of Ashoka trying to train someone who isn’t force sensitive and would have never been chosen by the Jedi. Helps make Sabine feel like more of an underdog and feels more to the spirit of the original trilogy that anyone could be a Jedi or learn the ways of the force.

@MrDandy - Plus it also adds to the parallel that Grogu is force sensitive and very powerful without fully controlling it and wants to be a Mandalorian instead.

@MrDandy - "feels more to the spirit of the original trilogy that anyone could be a Jedi or learn the ways of the force."

The original trilogy didn't feel like that at all to me. If that were the case then Yoda or Obi Wan could have picked up anyone off the street and trained them to become a Jedi.

And when Luke decided to go save Leia, Han, and Chewie instead of staying with Yoda to train more, they thought he was either going to die or turn to the dark side. Obi Wan said "That boy is our last hope". And Yoda said "No. There is another."

Which leads you to believe that only certain people can be trained in the ways of the Force.

And Vader rams that point home in Return of the Jedi when he taunts Luke about turning Leia to the dark side.

But like I said, if anyone could learn the ways of the Force then the remaining Jedi, particularly Obi Wan and Yoda would have been training as many people as they could to build up a new Jedi Order.

Force Sensitive people have always been a select few.

@CorndogBurglar - I'd disagree. The concept of force sensitive was only really introduced in the prequels. It was a huge point of contention when Phantom Menace first came out as prior to that film, The Force was more spiritual in nature rather than related to physicality (mediclorians) or talent related.

@MrDandy - So, looking at it as if there have never been any other Star Wars content outside of the original trilogy, what are some examples that make you say that?

I've given a few, and @Fogs gave a other good one from Return of the Jedi: "The Force is strong in my family. I have it, my father has it, and my sister has it."

If anyone could be trained as a Jedi, why would he say that?

The Force exists in all living things. George has been clear on this.

Some have a genetic advantage. Some are more Force sensitive than others. Also as Ahsoka said "Talent is a factor'. Not everyone has the ability to wield the Force. You're not gonna go around Force pushing, lifting, grabbing, or choking anyone, but it still exists within all living things even if only a miniscule amount.

It was great seeing Sabine brush up on her Saber skills. Watching her train in the different forms was pretty sick to be honest. She has learned from both Kanan and Ahsoka so I hope to see some cool Saber battles soon. Not to mention her Mandalorian upbringing. I like the show Rebels. It's a pretty solid show. I full on expected it to be a kiddie show, but it turned out to be pretty cool. Some great writing as well. I like seeing how much it ties in with Ahsoka.

Also I'm hoping Zeb shows up on this show like he did Mando

Maybe we can get a nice Ghost crew reunion.

I wonder if Ventress will make her live action debut here given her relationship with the night sisters. Technically, she is the last surviving sister. Maybe disguised as Marrok? I'm not buying the Ezra theory.

@vectorsigma - unfortunately I don't think we'll be seeing Ventress. You should read the novel Dark Disciple. But yeah, I'm also not buying the Ezra theory.
Taonrey

@vectorsigma - ventress is dead, they had a arc set up for the clone wars that ended up being turned into a novel.

vectorsigma - 8/31/2023, 5:12 AM
@Taonrey @captainireland

Didnt know that, is that novel canon?
captainireland
captainireland - 8/31/2023, 11:58 AM
@vectorsigma - yeah, it's canon. As @Taonrey said, they turned the scripts for her unmade final arc in The Clone Wars into the novel. I'd love if some day they actually produce the planned episodes, because it's a solid story.
vectorsigma
vectorsigma - 8/31/2023, 9:59 PM
@captainireland - thanks, got more info online as well. No more ventress theory from me on this show then, lol
captainireland
captainireland - 9/1/2023, 8:37 AM
@vectorsigma - if it wasn't for that book, it'd be a splid theory. Now that you've said it, it would have been really cool if Ventress was revealed to be behind the mask.

Where were all of these heroes during the death star 1 & 2 battles.
vectorsigma
vectorsigma - 8/31/2023, 2:16 AM
@Matchesz - im sure that will be addressed in the future.

Filoni is great in retconning.

This show is a testament to it. Ahsoka wasnt in the first 6 movies and here we are. That "wrong jedi" arc answered it.
captainireland
captainireland - 8/31/2023, 3:11 AM
@Matchesz - that's a good question in relation to Ahsoka. But the answer to that in relation to Hera and Sabine was given in the Rebels finale.
Taonrey
Taonrey - 8/31/2023, 3:24 AM
Also that answer was already answered in rebels
Taonrey
Taonrey - 8/31/2023, 3:24 AM
@Matchesz - also your question was already answered in rebels for the ghost crew
Kurban
Kurban - 8/31/2023, 4:05 AM
@Taonrey - It actually wasn’t answered in Rebels. We got no indication on what Ahsoka was doing throughout the entire OT. When did she find Huyang? Where did she get her ship? That stuff needs to be addressed
Taonrey
Taonrey - 8/31/2023, 6:45 PM
@Kurban - what why does it hat stuff need to be addressed? It’s Star Wars we don’t need to know the story behind Ashoka getting her ship lol. We also don’t need to know how she found huyang. None of this is important

"The last time we saw them was in Rebels when they pulled Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn to parts unknown"

Technically the last time we saw them was in the Mando season three premiere.

Sabine has ways to go in her training and what Ahsoka said about how training and focus played a huge factor in learning the ways of the Force is what was most important.

The Purggils' live-action debut was great.
