THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT: New STAR WARS TIMELINES Book Suggests Cad Bane May Live To Fight Another Day

The Book of Boba Fett introduced a live-action version of The Clone Wars villain Cad Bane, and while he came out on the losing end of a duel with Boba Fett, a new book suggests the bounty hunter survived!

In The Book of Boba Fett, bounty hunter Cad Bane made his live-action debut and managed to take down Cobb Vanth. Later, he clashed with Boba Fett, though that was a duel he lost...but did the villain also lose his life?

It certainly looked like that was where Bane's story ended, though a new Star Wars Timelines book has seemingly opened the door to us seeing him down the line.

According to The Direct (via SFFGazette.com), the Pyke Syndicate's hired gun is referred to being "out of action" rather than dead.

"Beneath the blistering twin suns of Tatooine, Bane returns to fight Boba one-on-one. Fett's armor protects him from Bane's shots, but the Duros seems to have the advantage," the excerpt reads. "Resolved to protect his territory, Boba uses the weapon of his Tusken tribe, his gaffi stick - and stabs Bane through the chest, putting the Pykes' hired gun out of action."

It's entirely possible the fact this book is aimed at a younger audience is why Bane's death isn't mentioned outright. We'd say that's the most likely possibility, anyway, though many fans have theorised for a while now that the villain found a way to escape death.

A small red light was seen blinking on Bane's chest after he was defeated by Fett, suggesting some sort of life-saving tech might have helped save him or at least brought an ally to his location. After all, if Vanth could survive his wounds, then surely one of the Galaxy's most formidable bounty hunters has some tricks up his sleeve?

There's been no news about plans for The Book of Boba Fett season 2 and the title character was nowhere to be seen in The Mandalorian's recent third season despite the fact all signs pointed to him showing up to lend a helping hand at some point (more details on why that didn't happen can be found here)

How would you feel about Cad Bane returning in a future live-action project?

When Cad Bane was shot, perhaps a protocol was initiated where nanobots target damaged vital tissue to try to mitigate the damage while a team of medical droids headed into the area.

The protocol does not guarantee that the injured subject will survive, but he receives immediate medical attention.

@Repian - Honestly would not be surprised if they used something like that as reason or something like "a Duro's vital organs are located in different parts of his body". With Star Wars anything is possible. Boba Fett himself survived a Sarlac.

Why? There's no reason to continue him.

@CoHost - He's a cool and popular chatacter that can show up on other shows as an antagonist/anti-hero, it doesn't mean you need a whole story around him. In my opinion there was no reason to kill him. It was a waste to finally have his live-action debut just to kill him in a few episodes.

Still waiting for live action Hondo.

It was a stupid choice to kill him off at all, especially unceremoniously after him randomly showing up on a show he had nothing to do with. It was a pointless death of a cool character that had way more potential.... actually kinda fitting it happened on a Boba Fett show considering Bobas original death was random and unceremonious. But still, super dumb.

That being said, all these Star Wars death fake outs are ridiculous. But that also means Han Solo 100% survived being killed by Kylo, and Ben Solo is probably still alive too.

Can wait for the Disney+ show that shows how Owen and Beru really survived and became half robot moisture farmers.

Disney Wars is a joke! Of course hotdog fingers didn't die, no one dies in disney wars except old white people. Han Luke Leia were the only major deaths in the crappy sequals.

This guy is pretty unbeatable, but from The Clone Wars that doesn't surprise me. Hope we get to see that cut Boba/Cad Bane arc in The Bad Batch show. Feels like that show has to atleast unite Boba and Omega once

Fans already knew this. They spotted his breathing apparatus was still active and blinking in the final shot.

I wouldn’t mind. I’d like to see more of him in live action. He’s a great villain in the animated properties.
