ANDOR's Latest Episode Delivers Peak STAR WARS With A Daring Heist And Some Big Twists - SPOILERS

Andor has been something of a slow burn these past few weeks, but as we finally reached the halfway point with "The Eye," it was time for the big heist!

With the event also called "The Eye" playing out above Aldhani (in what proves to be one of the Star Wars franchise's most stunning pieces of imagery), things appear to be running smoothly for our rebel heroes. Decked out as Imperial troops, Cassian, Nemik, Skeen, and Taramyn infiltrate the base while Vel and Cinta make their way in via the nearby loch.

There are a few bumps in the road, but everything seems to be going well. Until it isn't.

Some troops overhear the communication between the Rebels, prompting them to arrive just as they're loading those Imperial credits onto their ship. The Imperial defectors, Lieutenant Gorn and Taramyn, both get shot dead, while Nemek is badly injured in the melee.

Accompanied by Vel and Skeen, Cassian escapes the incoming TIE Fighters and gets poor Nemik some medical assistance. While he's being worked on, we learn that Skeen wants to steal the credits for himself and offers to split the 80 million they acquired with Cassian. Andor's title character guns the traitor down, only to learn that Nemik perished on the operating table.

Returning Luthen's Kyber Crystal to Vel, Cassian makes his exit, but not before she makes sure he takes Nemik's manifesto. Could that be what lights the spark of Rebellion in him?

As for Cinta, her fate is a little less clear because she remains behind disguised as an Imperial. We're assuming she'll escape Aldhani somehow, but time will obviously tell on that front.

Back on Coruscant, Luthen learns that the mission was a success and bursts into laughter. Clearly, he's overjoyed that the plan worked, but how will he feel when he learns Cassian is no longer part of his movement?

@WEAPONXOXOXO - Yup, and Andor is apparently now going to become Andor after perusing that manifesto. A good example of what modern Star Wars can be.

The spectacle of The Eye was insane, such glorious visuals. One of the best eps of TV i’ve seen all year, would’ve happily taken it as the final heist in Rogue One

UncleHarm1 - 10/14/2022, 10:14 AM
@Cap1 - This show and Rogue One, despite that movie's problems, have the best cinematography in all SW

How could a show like Obi-wan be so lackluster and Andor be so goddamn good?
GhostDog
GhostDog - 10/13/2022, 8:10 AM
@WhatIfRickJames - seems they actually cared about making a good television show here and had a definitive vision whereas with Obi Wan it was more about prioritizing nostalgia and other legacy and/or supporting characters over Kenobi; as well not having a clear vision of what that show should and could be.

@WhatIfRickJames - this is what peak performance looks like.

If by any miracle Obi-Wan gets a second season, I hope they'll learn from the mistakes of the first season and from the success of Andor.

@WhatIfRickJames - Shows like Andor and The Mandolorian were made because the creators had a genuinely great idea for a new show. Obi-Wan and Boba Fett were moreso products made to capitalize off of fan-service and nostalgia. I’m sure there’s a great Obi-Wan story to be told, I’m sure there’s a great Vader story to be told, but attempting to retroactively shoehorn in this additional meeting between them, and sandwich it with an inquisitor story, was just biting off more than the creators could chew.

@WhatIfRickJames - to be honest, making Obi Wan was a challenge because it cant contradict the OT argument, they were a little bit against the wall in that sense… with Andor they have free will to do anything as long Andor stays in the rebellion at the end and survive… to die in RO

@WhatIfRickJames - maybe obi wan is centered around little kids and not of him as should have been ?
bl0odwerk
bl0odwerk - 10/13/2022, 12:35 PM
@NoobNoob - Sure enough. I don't think they should have attempted it, honestly. Too many restrictions. Maybe they should have skipped it.
WhatIfRickJames
WhatIfRickJames - 10/13/2022, 1:40 PM
@NoobNoob - to be clear I didn't hate Obi Wan and story wise, they had to stay within canon. Where it was good, it was real good and where it was bad... you know where I'm going. (The whole time when I was watching the Reva rooftop scene I was thinking "Parkour!") Character development was lacking. I think you could also see some of the limitations of the Volume as well. It felt much less cinematic than even Mando.
WhatIfRickJames
WhatIfRickJames - 10/13/2022, 1:46 PM
@dragon316 - I get that but they should have committed fully to that demo. That's the double edged sword of Order 66. You can be lighter and geared towards kids pre Order. Immediately post Order you can't have it both ways. It's tonally all over the place. Being that mature and catering to kids can't exist in the same space
NoobNoob
NoobNoob - 10/13/2022, 3:11 PM
@WhatIfRickJames - yeah Reeva was a waste, so it was the grand inquisitor
The1st
The1st - 10/13/2022, 3:23 PM
@WhatIfRickJames - Because they thought they could just throw Obi-Wan in there, have Vader do a few flexes, and Disney could get away with it on the cheap. They do not understand the fanbase.
The1st
The1st - 10/13/2022, 3:25 PM
@dragon316 - Nah, they just half-assed it because they thought they could get away with it. It's a shame too, because it had so much more potential. Andor shows us that serialized GOT storytelling has finally made its way to live action Star Wars and it's apparently here to stay.

Kumkani
Kumkani - 10/13/2022, 8:59 AM
Andor being less popular than She-Hulk and Obi-Wan shows that fans don't really care about getting new good stuff, but the same nostalgia bait circlejerk or watching stuff that just pisses them off so they can talk about it and generate engagement.

This is literally unfolding to be the best Disney+ show and almost no one is talking about it. Bums me out, not gonna lie.
GhostDog
GhostDog - 10/13/2022, 9:01 AM
@Kumkani - You ain’t tell a lie here.

Sad, no one is talking about this show at all. Everyone would rather desire to be angry or bathed in nostalgia. That was one of the best hours of Star Wars EVER.

So far this show has been 2 episodes of talk then 1 episode with some action then 2 more episodes of talk then 1 more episode with some action.
It’s a nice slow burn.

This episode might be the best live action production Star Wars has made since...The Empire Strikes Back. It was that good.

I finally have hope in the future of Star Wars again; a hope I haven't felt in a long, long time.

I've never felt so tense watching a Star Wars production. hell, not even House of the Dragon got me this nervous so far. they're not pulling any punches with this show, they really put the "war" is Star Wars again.

The1st - 10/13/2022, 3:30 PM
@Spidey91 - That's the point I think. I think this is why they originally wanted the GOT guys, but they torpedoed that by mailing in the final season. I'm still glad we got it though. Mon Mothma is easily one of the more interesting characters without force powers, arguably in the mythos at this point if she wasn't already. Watching her get fleshed out and inevitably getting rid of that idiot husband is something I'm looking forward to. Momma's boy is seemingly joining the empire and I have no doubt he'll find his way to Dedra.

It was indeed and excellent episode, and the best of the season so far.

This show is so much build up… its just too slow. I tried watching this “good episode” and I fell asleep before any action could happen.
I’ll try again today. They should’ve made this a one off movie as the 5 episodes of build up doesn’t work for me. I could see why some people gave up on this series 4 episodes in.

@slickrickdesigns - Works for a lot of other people judging by reactions and the comments here.
