STAR WARS: OBI-WAN KENOBI Series Reportedly In The Works For Disney+ Streaming Service
Solo: A Star Wars Story's disappointing box office performance put the brakes on the planned Obi-Wan Kenobi movie, but it sounds like the project could become a TV series on the Disney+ streaming service.
For years now, fans have been demanding an Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoff movie and while it appeared as if it was finally starting to come together last year when reports of a writer and director being attached started doing the rounds, that and every other spinoff was put on hold after Solo: A Star Wars Story disappointed at the box office.
Well, Making Star Wars (an extremely reliable source of information) is now reporting that an Obi-Wan Kenobi series is a priority for Disney+ and could span as many as six episodes.
Apparently, the Jedi Master's standalone movie was originally set to start shooting after Solo and Ewan McGregor remains on board the project regardless of what form it takes. Good things are being said about the movie's script, so that should bode well for what has now become spinoff series instead. In terms of specific plot details, though, they remain something of a mystery.
It's easy to see just how much potential a show like this would have because if The Mandalorian isn't enough to tempt Star Wars fans into subscribing to Disney+, this long overdue project most certainly would be.
