If you're a fan of Star Wars Rebels, one of the joys of watching Ahsoka is undoubtedly going to be seeing those beloved characters in live-action. However, the show's first episode - "Master and Apprentice" - features an unexpected cameo from someone we're guessing many of you won't have necessarily expected to see.
In the opening episode, we learn Sabine Wren is now living on Lothal and is quite adamant that she won't attend a ceremony unveiling her mural to the planet's citizens.
As you might expect, Governor Ryder Azadi is not happy!
Yes, Clancy Brown reprises his Star Wars Rebels role in live-action, later reuniting Sabine and Ahsoka Tano when the latter sets out on her mission to hunt down Grand Admiral Thrawn and, hopefully, bring Ezra Bridger back from his unwilling exile in another Galaxy.
Azadi was once a Moff who served as the Governor of the Lothal sector during the early years of the Galactic Empire's reign. However, his support for early Rebels Ephraim and Mira Bridger (Ezra's parents) saw him placed in prison before escaping and returning to Lothal to tell Ezra that his mother and father sadly hadn't made it out alive.
He proved himself a loyal ally to Ezra and the fledgling Rebel Alliance, leading a resistance group that fought back against the Imperial forces occupying Lothal.
Despite being a relatively minor character in the grand scheme of things, it's great to catch up with Azadi. Finding out he got a happy ending on his home planet is a nice bonus, as is seeing that he restored Lothal to peace and prosperity in the wake of Ezra's apparent sacrifice.
Of course, many of you will recall that Brown also appeared in The Mandalorian. He played Burg, the Devaronian who betrayed Din Djarin during the season one episode, "The Prisoner." We obviously don't anticipate anyone mixing these two up, though, similar to Andy Serkis' dual Star Wars roles (Supreme Leader Snoke and Kino Loy).
