THE MANDALORIAN Star Katee Sackhoff Explains Why Bo-Katan Kryze Didn't Tell Din Djarin About The Mythosaur

Many fans continue to question why Bo-Katan Kryze didn't tell Din Djarin about the legendary Mythosaur she spotted beneath Mandalore, and actress Katee Sackhoff has now shared a pretty compelling explanation.

One of The Mandalorian season 3's s most widely discussed moments came when Bo-Katan Kryze discovered a Mythosaur beneath the Living Waters on Mandalore.

The warrior chose not to tell Din Djarin about what she'd witnessed, but later confessed to The Armorer who was subsequently inspired to bring together the remaining Mandalorians in order to retake their planet. As far as we're aware, they're still the only ones who know the beast is there, though many fans were disappointed that no one ended up riding the ancient creature into battle during the finale!

Talking on the Steve Varley Show (via SFFGazette.com), Bo-Katan actress Katee Sackhoff shared some insights into why she believes her character kept what she'd seen to herself.

"Well, this is a person who did not take the legends literally. She took them metaphorically, you know? She came out of that water seeing the symbol of her people that she didn’t ever dream existed," Sackhoff explained. "I think she thinks she’s crazy. I think she’s probably thinking, 'What the hell did I see?'"

"It was also under a stressful situation. She could have imagined that," she continued. "And I don’t think, in this moment, she trusts Mando enough to emotionally let her guard down."

That Mythosaur has to make its presence felt at some point, and we're guessing it will indeed be Din Djarin or, more likely, Grogu that tames the ancient creature.

Its introduction may even be saved for Dave Filoni's eventual Star Wars movie, particularly if Grand Admiral Thrawn decides to set his sights on Mandalore (however, that obsession was seemingly more Moff Gideon's than anyone else's in the Empire).

All episodes of The Mandalorian season 3 are currently streaming on Disney+. However, we recently learned that, due to the ongoing WGA strike, production on season 4 is likely to be delayed.

It's because the writing in this show is terrible. Easily explained

@Cap1 - It was solid for the first two seasons and then the suits and the Hack got more involved.

@Cap1 - Or it could be for the reason she said? There were instances of bad writing in the season. This isn't one of them. This season was firmly Bo-Katan's journey with Din serving as the "Mad Max" that helps lift a society from the ashes. I found it to be compelling and exciting, but I understand that others wanted to go back to Din on his own, a la Samurai Jack.

If you didn't like it, that's fine. If you're making negative comments about a season that is over, then you're just seeking things to rage against. I suggest dedicating that energy elsewhere instead of letting it live Rent-Free in your head. Find something else to watch.

@TheRose - Say what?! Isn't it after a season is done you can really talk about how it was?

@Cap1 - while I enjoyed the season, I too question if this was a writing snafu. It made her come off as sneaky, or like she was conspicuous. But then a few eps later we see she's meant to be a leading hero. I was confused til the last episode. They gave us two different feels for her. Not sure if that was Intentional, or a misstep with the writing

@TheRose - respectively, i agree with @elvenkinslayer. Better to dissect a show after its fully aired rather than during

@ElvenKingSlayer @Vigor - I'm all for dissecting a show after the season airs, but there is a difference between a discussion of examples of Bad Writing and Complaining. Refuting the words of the actors (words that she has been repeating since the episode first aired) came off as a bad faith argument to me. My apologies if that is a misread.

I see the argument that she came off as suspicious, but based on what I've seen from her portrayal on Clone Wars and the earlier seasons of Mando, I wasn't surprised that she held that information from Din. She doesn't trust others and a lot of that stems from what we found out later on--she doesn't trust herself to lead Mandalore. It is only in the last few episodes of the season that this humility comes full circle and it is revealed that this is exactly the quality that makes her best to lead her people.

And just to punctuate that I'm not just giving the season a free pass, I will claim that just about every aspect of Moff Gideon was a complete misfire. His scenes nearly ruined the season for me as a whole. His return was moustache twirling nonsense, and there were numerous plot holes in regards to his actions on Mandalore (the biggest being that he saw exactly where Din was walking in the base, allowing him to destroy the clones, and then getting upset when--surprise--Din destroyed the clones. Also, he claimed that Hux was obsessed with clones...but then gets emotional about his "perfect" clones. This seems wildly inconsistent).

Maybe she just wanted to ride that bad boy her self so she didn’t tell him about it
