THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT Stills Released; Jon Favreau Teases Tatooine "Power Vacuum" After Jabba The Hutt's Death

Two new stills from The Book of Boba Fett have been released, while director and executive producer Jon Favreau has shed some light on how the "power vacuum" on Tatooine affects the bounty hunter's rule...

In a surprise post-credits scene at the end of The Mandalorian season 2, Lucasfilm announced The Book of Boba Fett with a sequence depicting Boba Fett gunning down Bib Fortuna and taking Tatooine for himself. The spinoff series will pick up right where that left off, and director and executive producer Jon Favreau has dropped a few hints about what fans can expect from this story.

"There is a power vacuum," the filmmaker tells Empire Online, "because Jabba is gone. Jabba was clearly a very strong and imposing leader, who people were very scared of, and who seemed to rule with an iron fist. You pull somebody like that out of the ecosystem of Tatooine – and Hutt Space in general – and you have the opportunity that’s ripe in the gangster genre."

While Fortuna took charge after Jabba was killed by Princess Leia, it doesn't sound like he did the best job. As a result, Fett finds himself a tad overwhelmed with his newfound role on Tatooine.

"Although Boba Fett is a very experienced bounty hunter, he’s not experienced at running a criminal syndicate or managing forces," Favreau continues. "He’s not normally a newcomer. He’s an expert as we see him in most areas. But in this case, he’s trying to transition to another position."

Two new stills from The Book of Boba Fett have also been released, and you can check them out alongside the recently revealed Empire Magazine cover below. As for this Disney+ series, it's set to debut on the streaming service on December 29, so keep checking back here for updates!
