OBI-WAN KENOBI Reportedly Moves To 2022 As CASSIAN ANDOR Remains On Track For Next Year

In a press release which has been sent out by Disney+, it's seemingly been confirmed that Obi-Wan Kenobi has been pushed back to 2022, while Cassian Andor remains on track for next year. Check it out...

As we mentioned a little earlier today, the French version of Disney+ has issued a press release with details about the shows coming to the streaming service over the next year or two.

While it's important to note that these dates may have been set in stone before the COVID-19 pandemic put Hollywood on hold, they still give us a potential idea of what Disney has planned. As The Direct notes, Obi-Wan Kenobi (which recently landed a new writer) is now pencilled in for 2022 after Lucasfilm decided to go back to the drawing board.

That gives the studio the chance to get the series right, and while this possible delay is a shame, the project is so highly anticipated that it's far more important that they get it right.

As for Cassian Andor, that's reportedly still on track for 2021, but the global pandemic could change those plans depending on when shooting on the series was supposed to kick off.

It was also recently reported that the Star Wars movie Disney has pencilled in for 2022 still has its release date, so Lucasfilm is clearly remaining hard at work on a number of projects. They've yet to reveal any specifics, of course, and we still have no idea who will take the helm of that.

As always, we'll keep you guys updated as we learn more!

@BlackBeltJones - Still weird that they scrapped all the scripts they had from the writer of Drive and they're restarting from the writer of King Arthur Legend of the Sword. The rumor was they were too close to the Mandalorian, but... wouldn't you know that well in pre-production that they're similar? Why halt it after the dude's already written most of the show lmao

Thank you Kathleen Kenedy, show was ready to go, then you trow everything out and get a writer with some pretty bad movies under his belt yeah, obviously there is nothing had can be fairly criticized there

After what we heard about this in February, casting a "young Luke and Leia" I'm thinking this might be for the best. They seem to have issues... figuring stories out.
