The live-action Powerpuff Girls pilot at The CW recently cast its three leads in Chloe Bennet (Blossom), Dove Cameron (Bubbles), and Yana Perrault (Buttercup).
Based on the Cartoon Network series, the new show - which was announced last August - catches up with the pint-sized superheroes as disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime fighting. Will they agree to reunite now that the world needs them more than ever?
Now, Bennet, best known for her role as Skye/Daisy Johnson/Quake in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., has shared an Instagram video revealing her new look to play Blossom. The red hair suits the actress, and this is likely a good indication that shooting on Powerpuff Girls will begin soon.
Here's an official description for the live-action Blossom: "Though she was a spunky, conscientious, Little-Miss-Perfect child who holds several advanced degrees, [Blossom] has repressed kiddie-superhero trauma has left her feeling anxious and reclusive, and she aims to become a leader again, this time on her own terms."
The Powerpuff Girls pilot was wriitten by Heather Regnier and Diablo Cody, with Maggie Kiley set to helm that episode. It's likely we'll get a first look at the series a little later this year.
