The highly anticipated crossover event between Supernatural and Scooby Doo did not disappoint in terms of ratings, as the episode tied Supernatural's season-high.

The episode, fittingly titled Scoobynatural, drew 2 million total viewers, the show's best numbers since the season premiere in October.

In its 13th season, it makes sense for Supernatural's showrunners to try something different to keep things fresh. However, this episode had been in the works for a number of years. Since both properties are owned by Warner Bros., and Scooby Doo even used to air on the CW, the network figured it was worth a shot.

Since the episode was approved, a big marketing push was made to make sure this crossover garnered the attention it deserved. Even though Supernatural has been on the air for 13 years, it's more of a cult hit than a mainstream one.

This promotional effort has included a ton of merchandise, and star Jensen Ackles going on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Considering the
episode's high ratings, it looks like this push paid off.
