Xandera, I've always loved vampires so I'll never be sick of them, but I agree they ARE everywhere. But in truth, it's a genre that hasn't really gone away. Obviously there were Universal horror movies in the '30s and '40s, Hammer's Dracula in the '60s and '70s, Dark Shadows, Frank Langella's Dracula, Near Dark, Fright Night, Lost Boys, Forever Knight, Buffy, Angel, Moonlight, True Blood, Vampire Diaries, (yes) Twilight (sorry), and on and on it goes. I really do think it's just become a movie/TV staple at this point.

Been doing a Vampire Diaries marathon and the show is pretty terrific.

@EdGross - I see what you're sayin dude... everything these days has vampires in it...
but I have to admit that vampires are pretty damn cool... it's just that everywhere I turn there's another damn vampire... I think they need to space it out a little...

And you know what? In a year or two it will slow down again and things WILL become more spread out until the next big craze several years later. Just the cycle of these things.

I would go to this if it was closer to me.I love The Vampire Diaries & True Blood.I think what has ruined the whole vampire thing is all these stupid idiot TwiShite fans.Them and their little teenie bopper selves going all ape shat over it has annoyed everyone,especially me.The only thing I will say is,at least TVD has a good looking cast of characters.Unlike TwiShite that has "Greasy" Rob,"Ugly" Kristen,and "Buttaface" Lautner.And any girl that thinks those guys are hot,must have a taste for shat too.Blah!!!

lol, I have never watched the show, but I actually live in and grew up in Covington, Georgia where this show is filmed. It's a distant suburb of Atlanta, 32 miles east on I-20. For some reason Hollywood loves our historic district, we call it "The Square" for obvious reasons. Vamp Diaries, Remember the Titans, In the Heat of the Night (TV series, season 2-end), Dukes of Hazard (season 1), Miss Evers Boys, parts of Fried Green Tomatoes, couple of the Friday the 13th films, Rob Zombie's Halloween II, and a whole bunch of other films and TV shows have been filmed here since the 1970's.

Full list of shows and movies filmed entirely or partially here in Covington from IMDb:
http://www.imdb.com/search/title?endings=on&&locations=Covington,%20Georgia,%20USA&&heading=18;with+locations+including;Covington,%20Georgia,%20USA

Here's a fansite I found:
http://theblackbunny.blogspot.com/2009/07/vampire-diaries-start-filming-in.html
It has a more modern strip that is concealed from filming by the square being elevated about 80 feet above the newer sections of town that sits about a half mile behind the courthouse, the bell towered building beside the Mystic Grill (green building), which are actually Law Offices I think, in the Vamp Diaries. Every time I cut through the historic district at night they seem to be filming. I always found it odd growing up that so many things filmed here, but it has left me with a kick ass autograph collection. It's a small town, only about 18000 people, and it's not THAT close to Atlanta, though In the Heat of the Night did trip out a large warehouse complex into two or three studios for interior sets, I guess Vamp still uses them. I was odd growing up in a town where the street signs were constantly changing to Sparta Mississippi, Hazzard County, Haddonfield Illinois, Crystal Lake, and now Mystic Falls Virginia.

Covington in some films. We call the view to the court house “the money shot” because everyone that films here gets the same shot almost without fail, I think only Rob Zombie didn’t film a single scene from that angle.

Carl Whethers is one of the nicest celebs I’ve ever met, by the way.

Of course Vampire Diaries

This dumbass: He gets half his directions wrong and is circling the square in the parking/non traffic lane, it’s a wonder he didn’t cause a wreck, the lane is there to let the people parked along the center island back out since you’re essentially blind until you can back up beside the main traffic lane .
