RUMOR: Tom Holland’s SPIDER-MAN May Actually Appear Alongside Tom Hardy In VENOM

Despite multiple denials, it sounds like Tom Holland may actually have a role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Sony Pictures' Venom movie after all, which would reunite him with his Locke co-star Tom Hardy!

Ever since Venom was officially announced, we've heard conflicting reports about whether or not Spider-Man (Tom Holland) would make an appearance in the anti-hero's first solo feature and while Spider-Man: Homecoming producers Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal have both previously walked back statements about Venom being loosely connected to the MCU Spidey, it would appear as though there may have been a little more than meets the eye to those early rumors.

To date, we've been led to believe that Venom (and Silver & Black) exists in its own separate universe, but that may not be entirely the case... at least, not anymore.

During his appearance on Collider Movie Talk earlier today, Jon Schnepp shared a pretty major bombshell about Holland's Spidey and according to his sources, “Spider-Man is going to be in Venom. For the last couple of months, we’ve been hearing how Sony is keeping it all separated, and Spider-Man is in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but every other character that’s in the Spider-Man universe is separate. All I’m saying is that Spider-Man—and I’m talking about Tom Holland’s Spider-Man—is going to be in Venom.” He adds that he doesn't expect his role to be major, but assures that he's heard from reliable sources that Tom Holland will, in fact, appear in some capacity as Spider-Man in Venom.

In a follow-up video, he goes a little further and reveals that Holland has actually already been on-set for two days with Tom Hardy and director Ruben Fleischer, which strongly suggests that he's already shot something for the film. It's also believed that Holland will serve as the connecting tissue for all of Sony's Marvel Universe, meaning he'll also likely have a role to play in Silver & Black. As for his role in Venom, that remains unclear at the moment, but Schnepp theorizes that it may have something to do with how Eddie Brock (Hardy) comes in contact with the symbiote, which may or may not be something Parker picks up in his travels in Avengers: Infinity War.

Now, it's probably best to label all of this as a rumor for the time being as it may ultimately not pan out, but then again, considering Feige, Pascal, and Holland have essentially been dancing around the question for months in lieu of flat-out denying the reports, there is some reason to believe that there may be some truth to this latest scoop.

Check out Schnepp's full report in the first video below and check out his initial comments in the second video, starting at the 1:30 mark:

@Doomsday8888 - Part of me has a feeling that this could actually end up in the MCU and that Sony and Disney have already arranged a deal that after the Fox deal closes on June 30th there will be a trade of properties for Spider-Man. Due to the value of Spider-Man it would have to be quite a few different franchises. I imagine the likes of Alien, Predator, Die Hard, Kingsmen and maybe The Omen all being used in this transaction.

I'll wait till it's confirmed and advertised. There's no way Sony would keep MCUs Spider-Man out of the marketing for their geeeeeenius Venom solo movie.

I'm down for this. I just hope they don't screw it up.

@JamesPunn - If they incorporated the MCU Spiderman, that means it had to have been approved by Kevin Feige. Because the "suit" belongs to Disney as well as all merchandising for Spiderman.

So there is no way they will use the Spiderman suit without Disney allowing it unless they make a new one for Venom.

This would be a game changer if true.

@RolandD - I hope this is true. I'm gonna be honest here, even if the movie sucked, a Spidey/Venom fight alone would make me happy I paid for a ticket

As much as I wish Peter was a little older in the MCU, I’m not gonna lie that seeing both Toms in their roles facing each other makes me all tingly inside.

@SonOfAGif -

They could tease Spider-man in the trailer and then not include him in the movie in the same way the Ghostbusters film teased the original Ghostbusters but did not include them and the same way Ant-Man teased the Avengers without including them (other than Falcon)
